Hello all,
I just wanted to clarify that I'm not a therapist yet, even though I wanted to join this group so that I could be in a better position when I DO graduate. Being with professionals such as yourself and learning from all of you will help me to become the best therapist that I can be.
As most of you know, Ohio is not as progressive as they are out West so it's more difficult getting clients which is another reason why I think networking is crucial to our success and why I am jumping in here a little earlier than maybe I should.
I am currently earning an Associate's Degree at the National Institute of Massotherapy in Akron and I am AMAZED at how much there is to know! I have to admit I used to think of massage like most people and took massage for granted, that it was nothing more than a luxury. How untrue that is! Now that I know the benefits to massage, my goal is to re-educate people into realizing how powerful and physically/emotionally healing it really is. I'm so excited to be in this profession as I have always known I was a healer, not only that but I absolutely LOVE the work setting it will provide. Who wouldn't want to work in low lights and soft music, helping people with their physical, emotional well being? It just doesn't get any better than THAT!...and to get paid for doing what you love?... well, is like icing on the cake!
I would love to have some mentors here who would give me some advice from time to time. If you would like to add me as a friend on Facebook, I'd really appreciate it as I'm there quite often too.
Thanks so much and hope to get to know you all soon!

Hello Ohio therapists. I am located in the snowbelt east of cleveland about an hour. juggling a spa job/private practice/loads of volenteer work/married life. focused on the study of oncology massage with Galye MacDonalds Medicine Hands course. would like to get to know other area therapists and hope to really form a union of healers that work together towards that which we are passionate about. looking forward to a successful 2010, and abundance for all!

Hey Brooke, Who taught the MFR class in Dayton? I started doing MFR about three years ago and the results are most times very dramatic. I have used Thomas Meyers' Anatomy Trains model for working with the fascia. I contacted the secretary for Ohio AMTA about having regional meeting where LMTs could share...info, techniques, dvd's, trades, etc, but she never followed up on the idea. I think it could work, especially with the way the cost of CEU's has skyrocketed in the last few years. By pooling everyone's resources together...kinda like a co-op...we would all benefit!

I went to a Myofascial Release class this weekend down in Dayton. Great group of people there. I love learning new things I've already started incorporating some of the new tools in my massages.

Hello fellow therapists. I hope this site really takes off. I would love to network with other therapists here in the Buckeye State. I am located in Cleveland. I have a private practice in massotherapy and Chi Nei Tsang abdominal chi massage. I am also NCBTMB certified and offer classes in Chi Nei Tsang. Just been interviewed by vital choice health food store in North Roayalton. To see more what I am about. i invite you to listen.http://vchoiceblog.com
I invite you to think outside the box. Contact local business that might be interested in what you have to say and get involved with them. The poscast is just one example of the interest out there. I have lived on the west coast and Hawaii but alway seem to come back to my roots. I believe the people here are really interested in good health and i intend to help them in their search
