Waving my hands 5 Replies

In massage school my instructor had us wave our hands over the client and say to ourselves " what is mine is mine and what is your's is your's" as a way of grounding. I thought it was a little…Continue

The Video is wonderful Gloria! Thank you. Breathing is not one of my strong points. Geting better at it though.

I think practicing massage and other healing modalities has improved my ability to ground, because it is so essential to do healing work. If I feel I'm starting to get ungrounded or thrown off center, I feel my feet, drop my energy down into my feet and take a deep breath and really come back into myself and my body and breath.

Grounding for me seems like a continum. I rarely feel that I am not grounded. Linda Kramer (Sudevi) taught some breathing classes, but I have been fortuanate to feel comfortable in almost everything I do. I think confidence in my ability to perform is what keeps me grounded.

Hey all! I have to admit, I had to learn very early on to keep myself blocked/grounded. My instructor called me a Psychic Sponge. That worried me. If I do not continuously keep myself to myself, I will mimic my client's systems. Craniosacral work especially. When I was 8 months pregnant I "got lost" in the Craniosacral treatment and my child's rythym as well as mine mimicked the client. Crazy, but true. Now, after every massage, with that last long effleurage stroke, I "ball" it up and do a finger flick with each hand. Then I put both hands a long the clint's spine and do a gentle rock that grounds them as well. It's working for me, so I'll keep going with it!

Enjoy this little video I made. Hope it explains some things. Grounding is essential! So is breathing.
