I was a nurse in a former life---went to school in Missouri, but lived in Illinois. That was several years ago and filing for reciprocity between Missouri and Illinois was a major headache back then. Missouri was actually quick, but Illinois was the issue for me. I was recently the AMTA-IL Chapter President, and served on the AMTA-IL Board since 2003 and I don't recall any members talking about reciprocity issues between Illinois and MIssouri. If someone does have issues, I would suggest that they contact the Missouri and Illinois AMTA Chapters as well as the state boards of both states.
Hi Jennifer,
Did you have to take the 'difference' between MO & TX requirements? Could you please post this for St Louis Therapists who may plan a move to TX or vice-versa? I know of One therapist who moved to TX and had to take Hydrotherapy, required in TX but not MO. Also has TX adopted the national standard, or do they have their own requirements?

I do agree that trying to get dual licensing is not only a pain, but also an expensive one! Moving from Texas (where I had practiced for 2 years) to Missouri I had to undergo more training and take the NCBTMB and pay all my fees of course to work here. There should definitely be an easier way to transfer medical licensing from state to state. Possible a new agency, or perhaps a national licensing board? Who knows what the future will hold.
