Does anybody have hints for ankle swelling? One of my seniors is having issues with it, I think it's because he's not active.  I'm elevating his feet and doing light upwards efflerauge on his feet, ankles and legs.  I know MLD would help alot with it, I'm just waiting to find a class!

Laura, let me suggest to you that you massage the feet first, apply non fractionated coconut oil to the ankles then apply grapefruit oil or massage using the grapefruit rind squeezing it liberally.  The swelling is caused by fluid build up that is not being evacuated. use light  efflerauge strokes to move the fluid to the posterior knee at the tibia head, there is a lymph node there.  Advise him/her to do self MLD work by standing on their feet and raising up on the toes and pressing down on the heels, do it minimally 3 times a day 3-5 times each period.
