Core Alignment Technique (What is it?)

I have been teaching this technique for 8 years in Boulder CO, and would love to expand and let more people know about it
  • Eeris Kallil CMT

What is Core Alignment Technique (CAT)? This technique is a unique mixture of Feldenkrize - a body awareness technique, Shiatsu stretches and Energy Work. This technique uses slow, repetitive, range-of-motion type movement. The emphasis is on releasing blockages in the pelvis or shoulders, and aligning the spine. It will improve movement restriction, increase flexibility and enable clients to re-program old habits and patterns.

This work will takes your bodywork one step further, beyond the traditional prone/supine. Most of the work is done in side position and includes off the table neck techniques.

This work is especially beneficial for clients with chronic back, shoulder and neck pain and stiffness, frozen shoulder, spinal stenosis, and for clients who do not see significant results from regular massage.

I would love to answer any questions. I will be teaching this class in 2010, so stay tuned for dates.
  • Mike Hinkle

Wow, sounds fantastic! Do you have a video or DVD on it yet?
  • Gloria Coppola

Eeris if you go to One True Media you can make an easy video and post it on You tube, facebook etc.

It's easy to do. Keep it under 10 minuets or You Tube won't let you post.
If you have photos plug them in the slide show with your comments in text. A great way to market your class. Place your contact info at the end. Good Luck.

Thank you all for supporting me and signing up! :)
Thanks so much Gloria! I will look into it, I saw your slide shows on your site, I lreally liked it and was wondering how you did it- thanks for the tip.
So to answer you, Mike- No, no video yet but hopefully this winter I will make a professional one.
  • Travis Alligood

    Eeris,
Love to know the dates hopefully around NC.
  • Eeris Kallil CMT

Travis- No date yet- would love to come to NC to teach- I'll have to look into it! (wanna help me get a class together??)
You asked about literature but this is a technique I put together based on a particular Feldenkrais exercise Shiatsu stretches and movements and energy work, so there is not literature about CAT, but there is a lot of literature about the Feldenkrais method, just google Moshe Feldenkrais .

PS I want to be clear that CAT is not Feldenkrais and I am not a Feldenkrais practitioner.
  • Gloria Coppola

    Eeris,
I can help you organize a class in the Asheville, NC area. Let's chat about it. Email me.
  • Mike Hinkle

    There ya go!
  • Darcy Neibaur

This does seem very interesting. 2 years ago I was rear ended by a drunk at a high rate of speed. It left me with my neck dsilocated about 1 1/2 inches to the right. My back and neck have never been the same. Boy would I love to have this done to me.
  • Kelly Sanders, LMT

Add TN as an add on on your way thru to NC, or better yet, connect with Mike Hinkle and add it as a workshop to next years world massage festival in Berea, KY
  • Mike Hinkle

    There ya go!
  • Marissa

Count me in! Make sure you hit the Chicagoland area. People around here would eat this up! In case you haven't heard, Chicago is the Forbes #1 stressed out city for the second year in a row.
  • Mike Hinkle

This is turning into a World Tour!
  • Barbara Burgess

This sounds like something that would be good to have done to me. Last week, I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and bone spurs. On top of that I have arthritis and last year was diagnosed with osteoporosis and scoliosis! It has put an end to my running career, but I hope it doesn't put an end to my massage career! Any chance you will come to central Florida?
  • Eeris Kallil CMT

Hello to all new members and thank you for joining and for your feedback!
This work will be very good for both of you Darcy and Barbara! Sorry to hear about your accident and your diagnosis. Deep tissue and bone spurs don't always go together and this gentle work can really help relief discomfort and pain. I am very open to teach this where ever there is a demand, so if you are interested in starting a group- let's talk and see how we can make it happen..
Yea- get ready for the world tour!
I am considering giving a 2hr intro presentation at the world massage festival next June!
  • Darcy Neibaur

Eeris, please do teach this at the World Massage Festival in June. I want to be your demo.
  • Shawn Maria Brinza

We could all probably use some of this knowledge. Would like to know more.
  • Janelle K

Add the Northeast coast to your route too! I know Pennsylvania and New Jersey could use some new stuff!
  • Barbara Burgess

It would be great to have a class at the massage festival! Please do!!
  • Marissa

Eeris- Just wanted to let you know, I've talked to a few other therapists in my area (Chicagoland) who would be interested. Worry not, we "Heartlanders" are not afraid of road trips if you don't make it to Chicago!
  • Eeris Kallil CMT

Thank you all fot the support and Hello new members!
I am planing my 2010 schedule. Would love to come th the Chicagoland and teach this- what will be a good venue Marissa?
  • Roger D. Werstler

Would you consider a spin through Ohio? Maybe you could teach at Stark State College of Technology in Canton or a class at the Ohio College of Massotherapy. I know I would welcome learning from you in person. in any case, I will do my best to study your techniques and begin to apply them in my practice. Thanks!
