    Mind, Body Self-Care Strategies-Saturday March 31, 2012

Are you too stressed to relax? This class is about self-healing and why it is so important to take care of ourselves. Do you put everyone else's needs in front of yours so you are the last one taken care of?  This class will give you tools and techniques you can use to heal your body and soul and really enjoy your life.  As most of us are caregivers ,we need to take care of ourselves in order to be of service to anyone else.  Learn stress-warning signs, stress reducers, learn to assess your mind, body, spirit level, meditation, energetic relaxation techniques, labyrinth and much more. A TIME TO RELAX and REJUVENATE!

    Energetic Trauma Release-Sunday April 1, 2012

This class is designed to increase your knowledge regarding the effects of trauma/chronic stress in your practice, with your family or as a self care model. Learn how secondary trauma affects those dealing with trauma and abuse with others.  Learn how “triggers” affect a person after the event or trauma is over and how to release them, replacing fear motivated behavior with a sense of calm.

When someone experiences emotional or physical trauma, illness, chronic stress, surgery, suppressed or negative feelings, this causes “energy blocks” in the body, affecting our health and well being.  Dr Norm Shealy states-”all psychological/emotional problems are based in anger, guilt, anxiety or depression from past traumas; even slight traumas in our past can have devastating consequences.”

$50 deposit required to hold your spot

$125 for each class or $195 for both classes (12 CE hours) that can be taken consecutively or on separate weekends. Lafayette, La.

Recently I've been asked for guidance and direction from manual therapists concerning treatment of some pretty in-depth injuries they are treating.
I sat and thought about what advise I would have liked to have had when I was first starting my career 18yrs ago.
I've written "Part 1" of this series in an effort to provide some perspective into assessment and treatments of our patients.
Let me know what you think.

  • Mary Ann Zumpfe

kendra, there are a lot of online institutions and providers that offer affordable classes for the purpose of obtaining ceus for license renewal and personal advancement. try browsing these few: www.massagetherapyceu.com, any national organization, such as NCTMB, ABMP, AMTA they all offer classes. For hands on experience, that is a little more challenging. And dont forget the World Massage Conference Online. Good luck.

Looking to getting back into massage after moving again., this time to Orange County, CA. Working on getting licensed and was curious about new techniques.  Last one was a cupping class and will look forward to taking more CEU's, hopefully in this area. Noticed CA doesn't require CEU to maintain license but does for national certification. I graduated in 1994 and was nationally licensed then. Is it worth it to go national? I looked at the web site and it seems so daunting and overwhelming as I am so totally rusty.

    Thanks in advance

    Robin
