For anyone interested in developing their reflexology thumb walking technique you may visit www.orthoflexology.com
Click on the blue screen titled "Reflexology Fundamentals Introduction" there are 2 chapters from the DVD you may watch for free to improve or develop your thumb walking technique, the hip-sciatic/pelvic/knee-leg chapter is there as well and can be used for anyone presenting hip, sciatic or leg challenges. This area also works great for knumb toes.

    All the best.

I'm very interested in California state certification and CE credits in California. I'd appreciate receiving information on certification and CE credits. Warmly, Ariana Vincent, Ariana Institute, www.arianainstitute.com

Ariana: Full details about the California Massage Therapy Council and its certification program are available at http://www.camtc.org/

There are no legislatively mandated CE requirements for renewals of certification.

One small note. Governor Schwarzenegger has signed AB 48. What ever its faults, this does mean that California will once again have an approval process for private postsecondary schools, including massage schools. This will, in the future, simplify the tasks before CAMTC, since SB 731 (which created CAMTC) refers to "approved schools". The prior school oversight authorization expired on 1 January 2007. The new law goes into effect in January, but it will be some time after that before the new agency is actively reviewing existing schools and approving new ones. The new agency will be a the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) and be part of the state Department of Consumer Affairs. The prior agency had the additional word "vocational" in its name and was the BPPVE.

Hey my name is Pamela and I love massage therapy / healing arts and i'm so happy see all beautiful healers and facilators connecting. I really want us to band together and grow and expand this industry into a positive place it should be. I gotta go but much love.

Pamela, I don’t believe that I would have been able to get into this field in another state. We have such a wide selection of educational opportunities, great practitioners with diverse ranges of talents and experiences and less restrictive legal requirements that other states. Not only am I able to practice but I have a wide range of alternatives when I need help.

Currently I practice at a center in the East Bay with people who do all sorts of things. This helps me get better care for my clients because I have a wide variety of alternatives that I can refer my clients for the specific help they need.

Thats great Carl,Although their are pro & cons to it being so easy get liscense in this state but glad to be amongst creative talented and humble pratictioners. I really LMT OR CMT moving forward in with the State license I've myself a dead line of April 2010 to State Liscened just have to take care of some unfinished business.

    Hi Lara,
Where in CA are you? In Southern CA, especially the San Diego area where I live Ayurvedic modalities are very popular. It might be b/c of all the yoga centers and also the Deepak Chopra center is in this county.

Where ever you are, if you haven't thought of it, try approaching the local massage schools to offer a course in it or that can be one place to advertise your classes.

    Good luck!

I've added a couple of updates in the last couple of days to the CAMTC certification discussion.
