I invite you to check out www.Massagenetworknews.com
I have been creating short videos on a variety of topics. Interestingly, tonight
I had already started one on CST. If you are interested in contributing anything/comments/experiences etc. I would be willing to mention it in the video and give you credit w/web address too. (No charge). Just helping colleagues.

Have a dad who had a stroke about 3 months ago. What kind of therapy would be best to help with the brain connecting to motor skills. He has all feeling in left arm but no use of it.
  • ASIS Massage Education

    Laura,
I think the gentle modality of craniosacral work with a biodynamic approach would be a safe way to invite a healing of the nervous system and connection of mind/body functioning in a case like this. A "CV4" technique would not be recommended to someone who has had a stroke, but any other c.s. contact would potentially be helpful.

    Hello All,

My name is Nurit and I am a registered practictioner of Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy. I also teach at the Swedish Institute- school of Massage Therapy in NYC. I am happy to have found you-
I had a client who had a stroke coming in with a cane and walking out without. Most important is to find a therapist who can really listen to the body and facilitate the work from there. This is an important concept in Cranial work. Just doing very simple techniques through deep listening has the potential to go a long way-

    Hi everyone,
I am looking to learn craniosacral therapy, and hope to get a better understanding here with all of you. Thank you.
  • Frank Ansel

I am pleased to find a group concentrating on CranioSacral Therapy. I have completed CranioSacral Therapy I and Cranio Sacral Therapy II from the Upledger Institute and attend a local study group in Tampa Florida. Several years before I became a licensed massage therapist, I became a Reiki Master/Teacher, which introduced me to "light touch" and energy work. I find my understanding is greatly enhanced by attending the local study group. The more one uses CranioSacral Therapy the more they become aware of the fantastict effect this light touch method produces. I am looking forward to hearing about the many success stories you have all had using this method and how you integrate into your businesses.
  • Nurit Nardi

For whoever is looking for continuing education I highly recommend the Biodyanmic approach (I have taken many of Upledger's courses as well). You can check the CranioSacral therapy Association of North America for further info-

Great day and thanks Frank for your words-

  • Laura F smith

Thank you so much Ms.Laura and Ms.Nurit for the info about the stroke client. I am very basic in polarity but would like some more in depth info Nurit, as I am the one planning on doing therapy for my dad.
    Thanks again

Comment by noreen zakrajsek just now Delete Comment My son had a concussion 8 days ago. When he fell he was out for about minute.
A cat scan and x x rays were taken. They came out all clear.
He is getting better daily but still shows signs of the accident.
Do you think I can do some cranio sacral work on him?
    Thanks for your input.

  • Nurit Nardi

    dear Laura,
What level are you in your cranial work? that will help me to guide you-
    Nurit
  • noreen zakrajsek

I have only the first level done. My son left for school today. so I will not see him for a couple of weeks.
He is improving much. So maybe by the 5 or 7 week it should be not a problem to work on him?
  • Frank Ansel

You son should do ok with out your physical treatment and application of CranioSacral therapy. As you progress in your training, you will find that so much of the effectiveness of CranioSacral therapy is built upon the intent of the practitioner. During your son's absence, continue doing the 10 step protocal in your mind on your son. Send him unconditional love and the intent that he use the energy of your mental exercise to heal help heal his body.

  • noreen zakrajsek

Thank you Frank for your insight and your words of compassion.
I believe that in any bodywork, that it is always heighten by the right intent of the therapist.
Thank you, I appreciate your response. You are so right.

I have survived a TBI (traumatic brain injury) trained and became licensed as a massage therapist and have completed CST1&2 by UpLedger. I received a treatment by a CST(D) yesterday, not a full 10 step protocol assessment but primarily a diaphragm release. I felt the release but why just do one and not the protocol?
  • Frank Ansel

The treatment is dependent upon what the therapist hears from your body concerning the amount and type of treatment you should receive at that time. If it took a whole session to release your diaphragm, you body may have told the therapist that was all it could handle at that time.
Did the therapist request you receive an additional session? If you do not feel that you gained from that therapist, try another. If there is a local CST study group in your area, that would be a great place to get opinions and recomendations about your treatments, and to understand how the protocal works.

    Hello,

I have been doing CST for a long time (basically it is the only hands-on modality I work with). Just to clarify, the 10 steps protocol was put together by Upledger as a basic practice. However, the practice and philosophy of the work stresses listening to the body and palpating the tides (or cerebrospinal fluids) as a "diagnostic" way to be guided into a therapeutic session.

I describe it to my clients receiving it during the still point as if they were to imagine being on Cloud nine, that mythical place where there is no pain or stress just total peace. I tell them that if they can imagine that, then by doing the still point that is the sensation their CNS is being introduced to. They relate to that analogy very well.
  • Gloria Coppola

Steve, Thanks for your email. I don't know of a study group in the Ga area. So sorry. I will ask around. I am offering a CST class in Asheville that you may want to take. Reviewing these classes is so helpful. I took them over and over and became a TA for the Upledger institute. I understand your concerns about not feeling confident to offer it yet to clients. If I locate a study group I will let you know
  • Kelly Sanders, LMT

Steve visit http://www.Upledger.com and search for a practitioner. choose City and State and Cst. There is a CST-D named Shyamala Strack, OT, CST-D that has an IAHP profile that may be able to guide you to study groups. After I took CST1 in 02 I had to give 175 CST sessions as a prereq for CST2. I started incorporating what I learned into each and every session. I became so comfortable with it that CST2 was actually an enlightening experience. No with more than 300 sessions under my belt, dxing problems is almost intuitive.
  • Exie Buehler

    Hi everyone,
I took CST 1 a month after graduating my program in 2004. Although my instructor was amazing and I was able to help my 14yr old decrease the frequency and intensity of his headaches, and helped several clients achieve really great results; I still lack confidence in my abilities to apply the protocol properly. I look forward to learning and gaining confidence here by drawing from everyone's experiences and encouragement.

This evening I went to an Aroma Touch Technique session that used Doterra CPTG essential oils, a fellow TBI Survivor friend went with me and was my partner.
The technique was a real eye opener for me and a natural healing release for her. I will be starting weekly CST and Aroma Touch Technique with her this Sunday.
  • Kelly Sanders, LMT

I just learned a new aroma therapy technique facilitated by Valerieanne Giovannie of Doterra Essential Oils. check out this group: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/doterraoilers
  • Ray Lacey

I am an artist and CranioSacral Therapist living and working in Cape Town South Africa.
The focus of my work over the last few years has been visual studies of elements and treatment protocols in the art of CranioSacral Therapy. One of the questions that I have wished to explore has been: “Is Therapy Art?” Much has been written and said about art as therapy but little about therapy as art.
In my opinion Art and CranioSacral Therapy can be seen to share a dynamic in the potency of stillness. In the case of art, it is beauty that arises from stillness and in CranioSacral Therapy a transmutation process which arises facilitating healing and health - both can be experienced as a means of enhancement and transformation.
(An article on the subject will be published in the next edition of the Fulcrum magazine - CST journal in the UK)

Art prints and charts are available from my website : www. craniosacral-art.com – I hope that you will take time to look at the site.

    Best wishes

Ray, I am a firm believer that therapy is an art. One must learn the steps to perform, and the scale being played over and over again until it becomes natural, however, that is not art until the individual adds their love, devotion and personal feelings... then it becomes music. Massage therapy and Craniosacral therapy are much the some. Some people only learn the steps... others are able to express themselves in delivering a session to the client from which the client can heal themselves. Much Love, Devotion and self expression are needed to make the session a true statement of the Healing Art.

Ray, thank you for your contribution... I will be visiting your website.
