It is nice to meet you. I am a massage therapist in Dallas, TX at Massage Envy, the hugest franchise in the U.S. with 800 clinics. I am very happy and blessed for the company I work for.
Hello Kris, I am new to the industry and just starting my journey. You now have a contact in Harvard IL, far northwest suburbs of Chicago about 30 minutes east of Rockford IL. Go BEARS!
Thanks for contacting me! You're not intruding at all. I just started massage school this month, and am quite excited about starting a career in MT. It's nice to meet you too!
Its nice to meet you to! Im from Caguas Puerto Rico. I have been practicing massage since 2003 also. I love what I do . Thanks for requesting to be my friend.
As I've reviewed some of the posts, I see I am not the only new member who is learning the advantages of this website. Thank you for initiating a friendship. I'm curious and would like to know what your occupation/profession was before becoming a massage therapist and why you chose it? This month is my 13 year anniversary; I've never looked back or doubted my decision. Gotta' walk my dog :)
I was a pre-school teacher, owner, director and professional nanny ( a real nanny before it became a babysitting occupation) for 16 years. My mother's illness, MS, and the need for physical therapy lead me to massage therapy.
In massage therapy school, all of my instructors blatantly disliked and discouraged the students from working for Chiropractors which I could never understand. Being older by at least 10 years from the other students I concluded the best way to gain more knowledge as an entrance-level therapist and experience was working for one. Too, I was out of $$$ and needed an income, Lol!!! It was the BEST thing I ever could have done. Then again, I work for one of the best who does not use me as "window candy" and extra help around the office.
I work three full days a week, about 6 hours a day which is about 12 patients a day, more or less, as an employee. The majority of the patients are suffering from motor vehicle accidents or work injuries. Sudden impact physical trauma is not just about physical pain. We, the patients, the doctor, and I, develop close relationships during their recovery and developing that relationship is vital and the key to their recovery. Every day I am humbled by their trust and belief in what we three do, together.
Thanks for allowing me to share. Have a great day,
I just joined this site while looking for an interesting CEU course. That was a great benefit of this site - I am signed up for a course on massage therapy for burn victims.
How do you use this site? Do you collaborate projects or CEU courses with other therapists?
I am a special education teacher and would love to explore the use of massage therapy to promote sensory integration for sensory challenges.

Hey Kris, I'm in southern Illinois and I've signed up with massage professionals to network with other mt's. I've written a book called How to Start a Massage Therapy Business. I'm marketing directly to mt schools. I was wondering if you had any contacts with your training facility you could share with me? Read more about me at www.howtostartamassagebusiness.abmp.com Thanks, Tammy Alumbaugh
Check your message box. I have left you plenty of information about Hendrickson Method Massage and Manual Therapy. You are welcome to email me at aclemensw@gmail.com
Not a problem, I too will be looking for Massage Therapist from all around. I think it is important to network and stay up to date on all the news and techniques that others may have. I graduated from school in 2010 and I am getting ready to send in my application to take the national cert test - have you already taken your test?
