Providence Bodywork School is excited to announce our first Continuing Education series!
We're an NCBTMB approved provider for continuing education. We strive to provide high quality, convenient CE workshops that will equip you with useful techniques readily applicable to your daily massage therapy practice.
We're selective about our instructors and course offerings. Our passions for learning and teaching guide us in creating a practical yet innovative CE curriculum. We hope you'll agree that our courses sharpen skills and deepen wisdom, whether you're a new graduate or a seasoned professional.
Our CE workshops are always small groups (no more than 8 students), so you are guaranteed plenty of one-on-one instruction.

Advanced Techniques Lab:
Short format, small group intensives, focusing on assessment and treatment of specific pain or injury patterns you may find challenging or unfamiliar. You'll learn creative, advanced, straightforward tools and techniques you can use immediately. Each workshop will allow time for q&a, knowledge sharing, and problem solving. Modalities taught depend on the area or problem and the instructor's area of concentration: deep tissue massage, myofascial bodywork, neuromuscular work, etc. Taken individually or together, these workshops will provide a well-rounded understanding of how therapeutic massage can be applied to specific areas or problems.
Self-Care Solutions:
Fun and practical workshops that will give you everyday solutions for self care, stress management, and career longevity. You'll enjoy the learning process as you restore, replenish, and renew - and you'll want to use these simple, fun approaches right away at home. The best part is, you can teach your clients the same techniques to help them heal as they come into more self awareness. These small group workshops will encourage experimenting in a comfortable, non-judgmental environment. Taken individually or together, these workshops will provide a well-rounded, holistic framework for caring for yourself to support a career of caring for others.
Myofascial Perspectives on Pain:
This series will increase your understanding of the structures, functions and pathologies related to pain. We will be using a variety of bodywork techniques to address these areas including: myofascial release, active assisted stretches and NMT. There will also be a comprehensive anatomical review of the relevant structures. Rather than providing a system or routine, these workshops offer a multidimensional approach to evaluate each client individually. The basis of this work is to provide effective techniques in a supportive and non-invasive way and to teach clients self care strategies. We will be working in the tissues while constantly trying to inspire personal awareness.
Anatomy in Depth:
Explore beyond the bones, bony landmarks, muscles, actions, and muscle origins and insertions of the body. Get a more holistic understanding of the structure and function of the body and how anatomical structures work together. You'll be able to perform more precise work, and write better SOAP notes too.
Ethics Roundtables:
Short format, small group, open forums for safe, non-judgmental discussion of important ethical issues we face daily in our massage practices. Far more useful than the typical online ethics course, these workshops are intended to give LMTs, who often work in isolation, a chance to hear how others have handled similar real-life situations, and to work out, in a supportive group setting, best ethical practices and policies. Taken individually or together, these workshops will give you a confident, mindful, well-rounded, articulated framework for professionalism and safe practice.
Herbal Products in Massage
Many of us use products made with arnica or other plant extracts, but we may not have a full understanding of the function of the herbs, or their best application, contraindications, and ethical use. You'll learn about herbal liniments, oils, and salves that can help relieve aches and pains. The instructors will show you plant-based topical remedies for pain, bruises, sprains, strains, foot issues, and post-workout rubs. Ethical use in professional massage practice will be addressed. Learn to shop for the best quality herbal products. We'll talk about arnica, solomon's seal, birch, ginger, etc.
