When you smell a fragrant orange what memories does it recall?

Or the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking?

The limbic system in linked to our emotional brain, that is why a simple sniff of something can create a strong emotional reaction.

I have been using aromatherapy oils I created on babies for about 6 months now in a children's hospital. I was amazed how quick these little ones anchor into a positive  touch experience with the use of aromatherapy.

By the 2nd massage once the infant smelled the oil without hands on contact their heart rates decreased and oxygen levels increased.  Just with the SMELL of a soothing pediatric massage blend.

By our 3rd massage babies were falling asleep about 10 minutes faster then the previous 2 massage sessions.

Using aromatherapy in a children's hospital is an amazing experience.  Every doctor, nurse, or caregiver who enters the room takes in a deep breath and comments on how the room smells like a spa. A hospital room that smells like a spa! Now that is pretty encouraging.

Why aromatherapy in a hospital?

I worked with an oncology patient for several years before he was told the cancer was terminal. Because massage was such a huge part of his comfort for each hospitalization he donated a significant amount of money to our massage program.  Now I had the freedom to create a legacy on his behalf.  What?  Well this took some serious consideration.

Having used aromatherapy for myself and private clients for over 25 years. I thought -  Yes!  this was to be this young boys legacy.  An aromatherapy program in a children's hospital!

With senior management approval essential oils and base products were purchased.

I currently blend 4 different oils in different dilution rates to meet the needs of hospitalized children.  From newborn to adolescent from 0.5% dilution rates and up

Cardiac, oncology, CF, neuro, it doesn't matter what disease, -  the children and staff all adore the benefits of aromatherapy massage.

With such a fantastic result, it is now time to take this success outside of the hospital's 4 walls.

In the next few weeks, I shall be launching my own tried and tested range of organic aromatherapy massage oils.  From Lavender and orange, ylang ylang to vanilla, these inspiring blends will enhance the clients perception of massage and create a limbic system reaction that will bring the client back wanting more!
