Thank you for your letter, im excitied about taking my career to a higher level, and the reason why i chose massage was cause of my mom, she has FM and has been struggling with it for a long time. and i am going to forward my education after i graduate!. good luck to you!

I graduated from school in 1999. I stayed at the school as the administrator, a job I had before I started attending, until 2003, when I left and opened my own practice. Just had my sixth year anniversary of being in business, and I have grown to have three suites of offices and a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, an RN who is trained in aesthetics, and almost a dozen massage therapists on my staff. I also teach CE classes as an approved provider, and I'm working on my third book. Leaving my old life behind when I was almost 40 and starting all over in the massage profession has been the best thing that ever happened to me.

Take a self-inventory. Write down your wish list of what you want, and what situation you'll be happy in. Would you rather work by yourself or with other people? Want to be the boss or let someone else have that responsibility? Work in a spa or a medical setting? Success is relative; it's all about what YOU want. To some people, success is 25 clients a week, 50 weeks a year and 2 weeks off for a vacation. To others, success is 6 massages a week and plenty of time off to go fishing or do whatever it is they want to do. You have to decide what it is you want and then go after it.

My motto is: Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, and some people wonder what just happened. I like to be in that first group!

Good luck to you at whatever career path you decide to take!
