1. It’s too expensive.
Working out at the gym takes time, money and effort. We pay for many medications out of pocket. We even find the money for plastic surgery when we feel we need it. During a 1hr full-body massage, your blood & lymph flow increase to the same rate as exercising vigorously for 90 minutes! What would you pay to have someone do your exercising for you?
2. It’s not covered by health insurance/Medicare.
Many of us take a daily vitamin and some take herbs or other concentrated forms of nutrients. We often take extra Vitamin C and Echinacea when we begin to feel under the weather. None of these are covered by insurance.
It’s easy to forget that the insurance companies work for us. When seniors began to demand Chiropractic Care, Medicare and many other insurance plans then made it a covered benefit. Massage Care will be covered by insurance when the public demands it.
3. I don’t need massage, I do yoga.
I joke with clients that massage is Lazy Man’s yoga. During massage your muscles are stretched and adhesions are loosened just as yoga will do but in a lot less time.
We deal with a great deal of stress. In our lives, we hunch over laptops, extending our necks forward as we concentrate. While driving, we run into each other causing bone displacement, neural damage and muscular pain. We worry about the health of our planet and our children.
Stress researcher say that stress is responsible for all disease in the body and no one is immune. To keep our bodies humming along like new, we have to mitigate the effects of stress. Massage is consistently a top choice for stress relief.
4. I’m afraid it’s going to hurt.
TV often depicts massage as a trip to a torture chamber. When a client seeks Deep Tissue Massage, they are often already injured and in pain and even touching the area gently can hurt. Massage treatment will depend on the severity and age of the injury.
When receiving Deep Tissue Massage there can be some discomfort but everything the therapist does should be within your tolerance level. If it isn’t, you have the right to speak up. If it doesn’t feel right to you, then it’s not right.
5. I’m too shy to let someone see my body.
Massage is a beautiful experience. A tastefully decorated room, soft linens, relaxing music; it sounds good huh? It feels good too.
When getting massage, it’s up to you how much of your clothing you remove. A good therapist will understand if you’re shy. During your massage, you’ll be draped with a sheet. The therapist usually will only uncover one area at a time as they work. Remember, you’re beautiful just as you are.
See? Massage does a body good. I encourage you to get one today!
