Massage therapist Christina Brandon has broken the world record for continuous massage performed. Brandon massaged for 68 hours from her office at Gulf Gate Chiropractic in Sarasota, Florida.

The Guinness World Record organization is in the process of reviewing Brandon's documentation to determine if she will be declared the official world record holder.

She massaged in exchange for donations that will benefit two charities: Big Cat Habitat and The Lacy Fund.

Brandon was first inspired to tackle the world massage record back in 1991 after reading an article in a massage magazine about Barry Green’s world record of 25 continuous hours of massage. (Green had since doubled his record to 50 hours).

Uh yeah...I can't even think of how much damage my body would take doing something like that, good cause or not.
the thing that bothers me about this is that we promote to our clients that you need to take care of your body. how can doing 68 hours be considered taking care of your body? there are some records that don't need to be topped no matter what the cause.
I had one guy contact me for three years that wanted in the Hall of Fame. Based solely on his longivity of a massage. He just could not accept that was not enough. This one won't either. I look for people that invent or inspire. But folks do things for different reasons and I applaud her determination.
Mike - why don't you set a record at your festival for having the most massages done at one time and get everyone on tables or something like that!

Julie
Actually, I had thought about something for 2011. We should have 1,500-2,000 therapists and then maybe we can do something!
