I had a new client the other day... When we got into the room I asked her what she needed from this massage... She said. Just to relax I guess. I asked her if she had any painful or sore areas on her body.. She told me that she has chronic hip pain that she is now seeing a Chiropractor for....She has also been to two other Physical therapists for the problem.. Both could not help her.... One of the PTs told her it was her Piriformis, the other one said it was her Illiopsoas. The medical doctors MRI ed her and could find nothing... She has been having this hip pain for three years. I asked her if she would be satisfied with the massage if she left this room pain free.. She said that would be a mircle.. I told her that instead of a spa massage, I would specifically work to take that pain out of her body and that I felt very confident that I could...and that if I could not help her within a half hour , I would flow into some good massage work...Anyway I asked her to touch where she feels the pain.. She touched the upper medial portion of her hip below and to the right of L5..(upper sacrum rt side). I palpated her entire right hip area and found no pain... Piriformis was fine.. and there was even no pain on palpation at the area that she said she felt pain. So that told me her hip pain was probablly refered pain from somewhere else. I then checked her lower back out and sure enough found a very nocioceptive spot around L1 on her spinal errectors. It was so painful she flinched when I touched it. I asked her if any of the people that she went to for her pain, if they ever touched her there.. She said no. I said, Well thats your problem. Trigger points in that lumbar area send pain down into the hip.. In one minute that painful spot was gone, and so was her hip pain. She was freaked out happy. She looked at me and said.. Do you know what a big deal this is...Ive been suffering for three years and its gone now. I showed her a picture of her problem. The same one that I will attach here. She emailed it to her self via my Iphone. This lady was very happy. Her problem was very simple. It was over within ten minuttes of meeting her. She has gone through weeks of therapy and diagnosis in the past. I really dont know what they teach those guys in college? Not very much about muscle pain I guess? After her pain was gone, the rest of the time I gave her a good massage. She is coming back in a few days for a follow up session of a half hour... But her hip pain problem is history.

Well thank you for saying I did a good job..but the only reason it looks like I did a good job is because all those other medical/therapy people did such bad jobs.
