How does the minimum wage boost effect people who have more experience in doing the same job?

I have 1,063 hours and 50 clinical hours at school and been practicing for 6 years. If someone else just got out of school and gets hired for the same job. I'm only making a $1.15 more than they are. How's that fair?

Pueppi, what the hell does the more or less matter? She has more than a 1000 hours in classroom, and six years experience.  And she is earning only one dollar and fifteen cents more (or less) than an inexperienced new hire?  That just doesn't pass the smell test.  I mean, with two years in that spa, undoubtedly she will have built up loyal clientele, and she is worth only a buck more than the new hire to the business??  What the hell is so hard to comprehend about that?

Mostly, she is speaking from her sense of outrage at the injustice of it all...hurt pride, too.

Now, Stephanie, regarding your lawsuit.  I am no lawyer, obviously.  But to me there doesn't seem to be grounds for a lawsuit.  Unless in writing you were offered the $20, and they paid only the $16.  Or they withheld tips that were rightly, legally yours.  BTW, I don't see how I, or Pueppi, or anyone else can become embroiled in a lawsuit for providing professional advice.

I wish you well, Stephanie.

You love to argue, I see that.  But before elevating a fight, you should get your facts straight.  This is her comment:

"If someone else just got out of school and gets hired for the same job. I'm only making a $1.15 more than they are. How's that fair?"

Now, even one with poor reading comprehension should understand that she was indeed referencing being paid less ($1.15 to be exact) than someone who just  got out of school.  As I wrote in my comment, and which you responded to by saying you don't like confusion???  Oh well, perhaps her mistype, the period after "job" instead of a comma caused your confusion.

Gary, I do not love to argue, though you are bent on believing that.  I do like to make sure I am aware of as many parameters as possible, when speaking with someone about something like this though.  Because so many people have so many varied opinions about money and work.

I still read it different than you. I read that she says she is only making $1.15 more.  Not less.   And, it is not because of the period instead of the comma.  This is the problem with speaking online.  One person reads one thing and another reads something else.  Then, someone adds their particular inflections into a post, and bing-bang, things get confused.

Which is why it would be helpful in this situation, if we could get Stephanie to come back and clarify with some numbers.  If two people are reading two completely opposite things, some clarification would be useful.

I understand this thread in general, not in specifics...all I want to say is..life is not fair....not making any excuses.
Being good, doing everything correctly , is no guarantee. .

go away, Pueppi.  i have no desire to converse with you.  Be respectful of other therapists, you won't have a problem with me...I'll gladly ignore you.

Gary,

As far as I am concerned, this was a business discussion, plain and simple.  But, you've tried to stir the pot and mix it up with me multiple times, all because you feel like I haven't been sympathetic and respectful to your friend on this forum.

In my opinion, when possible, fact checking is a part of looking at the whole picture when preparing to discuss business issues.  Of course, that is no longer of consequence, due to my refusal to participate in offering any more help or advice, as she now states she is persuing a lawsuit.

If something like this is not important (as you now suggest), then in the future, would you please refrain from having a blow-up focusing on the thought that I have less than poor reading comprehension, just because I read something differently than you? It's obvious that those facts sure seemed to matter to you earlier, when you stated:

As for the legal issues. If you are comfortable providing online professional advice to someone who is involved in a lawsuit, that is your prerogative.  I am not, and will not.

Actually, you are behaving like a petulant child.  Are you related to Donald Trump?

When you say "being respectful to therapists", what you are really saying, is "Don't do anything that I don't like".  And, isn't that like playing king of the sandbox?  I would have have let it go, but now you've just  made this a little too surreal with your demand of "Go away..."  *chuckles*  Really?

Yes.  I know I am being petty, but you drove me here.  :smt028

Hi Gary.

I'm sorry about all of this rampage. I just don't get why franchise companies are treating their therapists like they don't belong in this business. I get very wound up when things are very bad in California that some massage therapists are out of work and making less on what they are use to. Again, I'm sorry this thread gets turn into a hot watering conversation.
