massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

I posted this in the marketing category, however this forum seems more active.

I just opened my own office space. As I go about business to business to meet and greet those in my area and offer chair massage for their company/employees on their site, I am running into NO SOLICITING!. The ones who have this policy, I later call. But then they dont return my call. I am 100% professional in mannersim ad appearance, so that is not the issue.

How can I go about and market this service? I am trying to avoid the mail due to the expense. I prefer a meet and greet. My offer is not asking the companies to pay for me to come in. I am offereing to be there with a pre made sign up sheet for those who wish a 5-15 minute chair massage at  dollar a minute with the 15 minute being an incentive and charging only 10. I cant seem to get in the door anywhere.

Any suggestions?

Who are you making the initial contact with? The front receptionist? HR? A receptionist is just going to state the no solicitation policy and that's that.

I would do one of the following: try to ask the receptionist for the HR reps name (9-10 this sort of stuff has to go through HR anyway) or business card and try contact that way.

Another way would be to mail information to the company with a nice brochures on how chair massage actually enhances productivity, low cost, etc. I would have a really nice cover letter introducing yourself, explaining the service you would like to offer the company and how it would not cost the company anything, how you're insured, etc.  I would also end the cover letter with something like "please feel free to contact me", but adding " I will be following up with you by XYZ day to discuss if this program would be good for your company".

This puts the ball in their court. If they don't contact you, you have already stated that you would be contacting them again. If they definitely don't want you to bother them, they have all your information to do so. And when you call you can state that you mentioned in your previous mailing that you would be calling back.

Maybe that might work?

Agree, HR is where to start. It may take time. Large companies usually need to consult their attornies. Try to be familiar with common practice in your state and set up accordingly.

This is definitely an obstacle. Some people aren't going to offer to pay until they know it's worth it. It took our place a little over a year to get into one business that employed over 200 people. The way we got in, was we offered to do free chair massage at a health fair they were hosting. 2-3 weeks afterwards, they called and asked us to come in and paid us to do chair massage on their employees 4 days in a row to get everyone.

Get into local community events, health fairs, etc, anything going on in your community where there are going to be a lot of people at. Offer free chair massages. It's no cost advertising.
