Massage therapy at raves?
Has anyone done or heard of such a thing? I recently got an inquiry at a local venue in phoenix that regularly has table massages available for raves. I've never been to a rave (too old) but from what I understand people would most likely be under the influence of alchol and drugs? This just sounds like a huge liability to me. Not to mention I don't think its a good reflection on the industry as a whole.

Drugs, Alcohol, Gambling, etc, just do not mix well with Massage as far as I am concerned. They started a Poker Room here in Pensacola, FL that has therapists doing Chair Massages at the Dog Track. From all the therapists I know who have worked there, not more than a week I must say, it has become a pick up service. Massage just does not mix well with these vices.

I went to a rave once many years ago and was ready to leave in five minutes----definitely NOT a place for massage--although the folks high on ecstasy and who knows what else would probably love being massaged!! You probably wouldn't like it if you feel you are "too old", it is loud loud loud and a lot of crazy crap goin' on!

You'd have to be nuts to do massage at a rave. My kids....all older now....did 1 or 2 in their day and it's no place for massage. And, sorry Jonathan, being at a rave as a massage therapist with the purpose of keeping an eye on revelers and alerting medical personnel...plus being responsible for who gets kicked out and who is too intoxicated.....is out of our scope of practice by a lot. The event organizers have security and medical personnel to take care of those things. Would you really want the liability? Can you afford the lawsuit that might come up? There are plenty of other ways to help people if that's what you want to do.

I'd have to pass on that, personally. I wouldn't do massage in a bar, and I don't really see that as being any different.

Yeah the whole thing seemed a bit bizarre. I mean if it was truly just a dance that would be one thing. It's actually not a bar, no alcohol is served at all, but they said they can't attest for what people do BEFORE they come. And we all know they'll prolly do everything. I was just curious if this was becoming the norm and I was out of the loop or what. Quite a few therapists popped on and said they had done the event before.
