Other than harassment, what would make you want to cut a session short?

Short of harassment, I would want to stop a session for people that pass odoriferous gas and then not excuse themselves or even acknowledge that its happened. There are only two of us in the room and I know I didn't do it.

Ive had people in for really long massages that are coming in for a very specific reason..Usually some kind of injury.. Like they cant lift their arm without pain,or something like that...  I explain to them that its much more efficient and cost effective if they break their two hour massage session into four half hour sessions..They understand, and we cut the massage short..   Ive done that many times.
I can't believe any experienced massage therapist would cut a session short over someone passing gas. It is a natural body function and some people can't help it. If they say "I'm sorry" or "excuse me" it isn't going to make it stink any less.

I agree with Laura.  I feel for a client that came in looking for compassion and some kind of relief from someone they thought was a professional therapist and then be treated with disrespect.  In this day and age, not only will such arrogance cause you to lose clients but you could lose a whole lot of "potentials" due to the speed and nature of social media.

This is a WOULD WANT TO not a Will Stop a session type of question. It is just that, a question. I am not the most clear person at times and want to make it clear that I will not stop a session for anything so trivial.I apologize for my lack of clarity.
When writing this post it was the third time a person had passed gas in my face in two days. And they were not aware that I felt any type of way about it because if nothing else I am professional with my clients and understand that passing gas is a sign that they are relaxed and things are moving properly in their system.

It's good you clarified that. It did sound as if you would stop the session. It's just one of those things we all have to deal with.

I usually leave a couple bottles of essential oil out for this reason.

Not only do clients pass gas, therapists do too.

If it happens and it's bothersome just get out some smelly oils...eucalyptus or lemongrass are both fairly potent....and keep going.  If client is embarassed, smelling the masking aroma of the essential oils is a relief to them and they can once again relax.

BTW - I know that we all have opinions and judgements, but you were expressing how you feel honestly. To answer your original question - other than bad behavior by client, I have only ended one other session and that was an asthma attack that required medical intervention.
