Referring Out: Stay in Scope by Building a Network of Health-Care Professionals

Chiropractors, personal trainers, orthopedic surgeons—what other professionals have you referred clients to?

Here's a great article on the subject from the latest issue of Massage & Bodywork magazine: http://www.massageandbodyworkdigital.com/i/108504/94

I don't have a list of specific people to refer too.  A lot of my clients that are in pain already have or are seeing or have seen other professionals(did I say that right?)... The ones that dont.   I tell them If I cant help them, they should see a Neurologist or Physiatrist.

I refer people to my Naturopath; he is brilliant!  I have referred people to chiropractors in the past, but now that I know more modalities I can usually help them more than a chiropractor (at least the ones here in my town).  I have referred clients to a Myofascial Release specialist who also does Egoscue Posture work and Trauma Releasing Exercises.  However, he's 80 miles away and it's hard to take a whole day for people to go.  I just got a new client who has her own business doing Mind-Body Nutrition and holistic exercise classes (Nia and Bellyfit). I've referred several clients and friends to her, especially the exercise classes.  I've recommended Zumba to a good half of my clients.  It's not appropriate for everyone because of the impact level, but it's excellent and fun exercise.  Also, I have a client who has been a certified Reflexologist for 15 years and just became a massage therapist.  She has taken several Myofascial Release classes as well.  Rather than referring clients to her, we team up and work on them together.  It works really well!
