Anybody around to clear out the spam threads?

At the bottom of the page is a link that says "Report an Issue". Any time there is spam, use that link. Every time I do that, Abram is on top of it right away. Remember it's Easter weekend. He'll be around tomorrow.

There are always a lot of spammers registering overnight -- I help Abram clear out each day's new crop of junk as soon as I arrive at work in the morning, and I know he's on it throughout the day, so depending on what time zone you're in, there are probably going to be certain times of day when there's a ton of these idiots all over the place. But, rest assured that they are never there for long!

It's like a 24/7/365 game of whack-a-mole...

Yep, I cleared out a bunch first thing this morning before I even got to work! I think whack-a-mole is a good description :-)

We've been working on getting some kind of third-party software integrated with the site to cut down on spam, but haven't had a lot of success with the tools so far, unfortunately. For the time being I've decided to moderate all new members that join, so we can cut them off before they start spamming. This isn't what I wanted, because it makes it harder for legitimate professionals to join the conversation, but until we can find a way to automate some of the spam control I think it will help a lot. You should all see a very noticeable difference in spammy members that are joining!
