Do you know any therapists that are no longer practicing due to injuries related to massage therapy?

Ok, how familiar are you with those concepts?  Could you teach that 400 year old Hwal Bup Do?  Or?   Just curious.

I have been doing it for 12 years. I weave it into a few other styles I often do. I am 7th dan in the form and can teach. http://www.urban4est.net/202.htm. It looks rough but can be very gentle and the movements are almost effortless for the Therapist.

One of my colleagues is shifting her practice from massage and polarity therapy to therapeutic breathwork. She has been a bodyworker for about eight years now, and she says the work is taking a toll on her body. Breathwork is a lot gentler on her, while still giving clients fantastic results.

I really don't mean this in a bad way but Mr. Cohen are you a perfectionist type of person. I do understand that everyone doesnt participate and I also know that trying to collect number for data on here isn't a good source. It is all out of curosity for myself. I am not trying to publish a paper, I am not trying to target other occupations to see what people I can get on my table. All I am trying to see is how many people would respond and start a discussion on LMTs not practicing because massage/bodywork is too hard for their body. I am not a research analyst. I am just an LMT trying to start discussions among my fellow LMTs

Frank while this site has many members few actually participate in threads. Any numbers gathered to the question have no relevance as data.In one of Boris' threads he suggests the immediate problem is developing business which causes much quicker drop outs.

I also work on myself and self therapy techniques would be a valuable tool to teach in addition to working on others. When my Korean Martial Therapy teacher, Master Jae Yun, releases the English version of his book, many techniques will be available in the self therapy chapter.

Amen to that, good sir! I'm just an ordinary person, looking for conversation and fellowship with other ordinary people -- they just happen to have "LMT" at the ends of their names.

A massage therapist who was a mentor to me in the late 90's had to retire 3-4 years ago, after having been a therapist for about 25 years. She had been mindful of self care for a long time as far as not doing too many massages per day/week, but she developed benign tumors in the palms of both of her hands. I believe she had other health problems as well, so I don't know how much that had to do with it. I'd moved out of her state by that time, and have always wished I'd had a chance to work on her when she needed it. She was an awesome teacher. .
