Hi Denarah,

This site was given to me by my Reiki Master when I was attuned to level 2. It might be helpful: http://web.archive.org/web/20020601180029/angelreiki.nu/level1/leve....

Also, I am very fond of Diane Stein's book, Essential Reiki. Simple, genuine, and to the point.

Good luck with the new job!

hi Denarah! My initial thought is to go back to your "Advanced Reiki" handbook and reread the chapters on giving a Reiki treatment......a refresher on how to begin a session...asking your client what, if any, intentions or goals they have for this session; making your initial energy contact by cupping their head in your hands to balance them and to let them feel your energy and flow; perhaps scanning their energy field for any particular areas for work; hand positions etc. Those couple of chapters are a quick review/reminder and it will ALL come back to you in a PERFECT flow of ENERGY!! :) Joanne

Hi Denarah - Here's the little refresher you asked for. Welcome to the group. Warmly, Ariana Vincent, Ariana Institute, www.arianainstitute.com

Performing A Typical Reiki Session
A normal Reiki healing session lasts about one hour.
The client will lie on a massage table fully clothed.
The Reiki energy will run through clothes, even when covered with a sheet.
Ask the client to remove his or her shoes, watch and belt.
Let the client decide whether or not to remove jewelry.
Use the time before the client arrives as a time of mental, emotional and physical purification and cleansing.
ou might want to take a shower and imagine standing under a cleansing waterfall that cleanses your aura, your energies, and your physical body.
Make sure to remove all jewelry that may interfere with the hand positions.
Sit still for a moment and go into a meditative state.
Breathe slowly and deeply to reenergize and balance your body’s systems. Give Reiki to yourself as you clear your mind of distractions and focus totally in the present moment.
Begin a cleansing and purification ritual for your treatment room.
Draw (in your mind’s eye) the symbols you will be using in the healing session on each wall, the ceiling, the floor, and on the table itself.
Draw (again in your inner vision) the symbols on each of your chakras, including the chakras in the palms of your hands.
Meditation will help you focus your intention.
Breathe slowly and deeply to relax your mind and body.
Center yourself.
During the session, there may be an awareness of Reiki energy entering the your crown chakra (at the top of the head) as well as the root chakra (at the base of the spine), filling the practitioner’s aura, becoming centered in the heart chakra, and flowing out the practitioner’s hands to the client.
Do not force or push the energy, keep your own ego and energy out of it.
Let it flow naturally.
Become lovingly detached from the results.
Trust that the Reiki energy will do what it needs to do when the person is ready to receive.
Use your intuition and follow your impressions.
Release judgment of your own perception of the flow of energy from your hands.
Release attachment to the results for the highest good of all concerned.

Please remember that this is just one perspective. One of the blessings of Reiki is that we have an opportunity to embrace many perspectives.

I was certified almost 10 years ago in Reiki 1 and 2, and though I have never stopped doing energywork, I haven't been doing speficially Reiki. Now I'm starting a new job, and am a bit out of practise. Does anyone know of any refreshers I might find in print or online?

I'm so happy to have found this group! I am a Reiki master/teacher and intuitive bodyworker (CMT, reflexology, energy work, etc). I'm looking forward to sharing and learning with you all!
Thank you! Joanne

Simply start your massage with it by Holding your clients head (assuming they are supine). This is good even without Reiki because it allows your client to become familiar with your energy, and feel safe to relax. A kinda of energetic hand shake. Hold with your hands over their ears until you feel it's time to move on. If you start your massage them prone rest your one hand just under C7 and the other just above the sacrum. It will produce the same effect. When you are done massaging simply hold the soles of the feet till the flow stops. This is a great because it will ground your client, and even if they are unaware that what you did was Reiki they still get the benefits. When you are feeling more confidant have Reiki info. handy to pass along to your clients to educate the masses people won't ask for it if they don't know what it is. Trust in yourself to know. Study your manuals and meditate on where you think you can fit it into your treatment. Don't be shy about it. it's a gift that was meant to be shared. Share where you feel safe. Peace

Dear Joan -

I've taken a polarity course and I found it to be very beneficial. I learned tools that were helpful to me professionally and personally. It was a very balancing and harmonizing experience.

When I worked at The Crossing Wellness Spa we offered polarity therapy as part of a treatment and it was very well received.

While there is no substitute for a classroom experience, you might want to view a few DVDs to acquaint yourself with Polarity. (1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiUitwpCZEg; (2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KknQMu2wyVg; and (3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQJrEMMI4_0

Thanks Ariana for the information. Do you know anyone who has taken a Polarity course? Just wondering what their experience of the course was.
