Thanks for letting us know. Fun to see it featured! I'll post a link on my website, too.

I thought the group might like to know that two of the feature articles in the November/December issue of Massage & Bodywork magazine are about animal massage. The first, “Two Legs or Four,” begins on page 46. The second, “Animal Massage: Meet Their Need for Touch,” begins on page 49. Both can be accessed in the digital edition: http://massagebodywork.idigitaledition.com/issues/9/

I am very curious about animal massage , I love animals and have allot around me . I have a few clients that insist I give there dogs a massage before I leave .... One in particular the dogs are bigger than my table .lol
My children and myself go horse riding and the stable owner is always asking when I will be able to massage her horses I do give Reiki to them but not massage as I do not know what I'm doing .

They were talking about doing next year's in the spring, for one thing, probably March or April. But the other idea to make it more accessible is to have a webinar format (or something over the internet, in any case). I think there would also be a live gathering in Ohio as part of that. I'll be interested to find out myself. Of course, you'll be contacted directly I'm sure as a member, but I'll also post the info here when it's available.

Megan,

I am so jealous that you got to go to the IAAMB convention. I have been a memeber for about a year but I just couldn't get away. I'm glad to hear that it was really good. Do you know where it is going to be next year?

This is such an exciting site! Thank you to everyone for sharing your resources. I was in the veterinary realm as an LVT for 30+ years and came to doing bodywork for equines & canines much later, first with Reiki and then massage & acupressure. Since our veterinary community is so firmly rooted in the allopathic tradition, it was so hard to get any validation for what I knew could be achieved with intentional bodywork! Megan, I love your website. Please let me know if you're ever in the Midwest. Meanwhile, I'm mostly concentrating on my human friends and grateful to know, it's a big world out there and I now have a nice framework for researching this avenue to expand my practice.

If you know of schools that are not yet listed on All About Animal Massage, please pass a link or message on to them, so they can get their school listed for free.

Here's another organization that will interest you, the National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure and Massage .... Check out their latest press release (from July), too.

Just attended the 2009 conference for the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork (IAAMB), a growing organization (6 yrs old?), open to anyone interested, and especially oriented towards professionals. Check out their website, and when next year's conference is scheduled (will be March or April in 2010) mark your calendars, because the plan for next year is to do a webinar type format to make the speakers and networking accessible without travelling!
This year we heard speakers on a wide range of topics, including TPLO surgery (for dogs), animal communication, developing your business in the canine sport world, a vet's overview of complementary therapies, massage protocol for the hock in sport horses, human to animal transference issues, and a curriculum for teaching pet massage for kids. We also had field trips to a canine water therapy pool and a state-of-the-art equine rehab facility.

I'm so happy to see all the interest here in animal massage. I've been away from my computer much of the time for the last couple of months, but now I'm back on track, and will see about providing more updates and sharing that will support your interest in this important topic.
