My cat can vouch for comment made by Cindy, 4 legged children love massage as much as 2 legged children. He especially loves swedish and reflexology !

Hi, I'm currently a licensed massage therapist for people getting ready to register for training in canine massage. I've done a little bit of work on my own dogs, and they love it. I believe massage therapy is such a powerful tool for people as well as animals, and am anxious to expand my practice. I too am very interested in working with horses in the very near future as well. Looking forward to being a part of this group and learning a lot.

Denora, you might want to check the IAAMB site, the IAATH site, and Amy Snow&Nancy Zidonis

Shelly, I teach at the school I own. Ojai School of Massage in Ojai, California. Reiki is great for animals, especially cats. Hospice work is getting a lot of attention in the animal massage field now and that is great. The transition period from life to death is very stressful on the animal and the animals caretaker. Reiki while being euthanized sounds like a great thing to do. The stress and fear during this time carries on into the intermediate state between life and death and Reiki would help to connect the animals consciousness into the stream of clear light. What a wonderful thing to do.

Martha, has a DVM checked Doser and come up with a diagnosis of the problem? Is there a nerve root compression? Does Doser have patellar subluxation which is common in small dogs? Could you give us a little more medical history?

Where do you teach Nickie. That's great to hear there are more programs out there. I do Reiki on animals. I have seen amazing results calming animals who are going through some kind of trauma and have also been with animals doing Reiki while they were being euthanized. When I was doing my shelter work it also helped to calm some of the dogs before we started the massage.

I have been teaching a 150 hour small animal massage program for seven years now at my school. We run three classes a year and we go to the local shelter and work on the dogs and cats there for practice. The change in the animals is wonderful to watch. I am looking forward to seeing the progress that will happen in this field. Is anyone doing craniosacral work on cats and dogs yet that would like to share information. I have heard of a few therapist that are doing craniosacral work on horses.

The program at the vet school was the first one they have ever offered. They invited vets, vet techs and massage therapists. It was REALLY intense but great! People came from all over the U.S. and Canada. Once the course work was done then we had to do 20 hours of case studies on our own, write them up and turn them in. I don't know when they will offer it again but there were many of us that were pushing for them to offer a equine course. I'll post if I find out about either of these being offered again.

By the way, when I get home from Denmark and have access to my own computer, I'll replace the group photo with something better. (The horse is perfect of course, but not the photo.)
