What have you done differently in your life to contribute to you wellness as a Massage therapist that you didn't do before ?

I recently joined the gym and started an exercise program, I stopped drinking anything containing caffeine only water and green tea or jucie. I no longer eat white bread, only whole grain wheat which is a huge acconmplishment for me considering my love for bread and I am all natural with my hair now. No more chemicals or heat, . I also have changed my resting habits to where I try to get atleast 8 hours of sleep. I have noticed a complete change in my skin and how I feel.

More fruit and veggies for me and not so much bread unless it is Spelt Bread, which has no high fructose corn syrup in it. Last year I joined Curves Gym as well. I try to keep a consistant schedule with the sleep pattern. I also take and use many more essential oils on myself

I actually started my healthy lifestyle before massage school it has just progressed over the years. But I cant think of anything that I have done since then to make a big impact on my massage career

I've been practicing healthier eating habits: I eat less red meat, eat in more, drink more water, use my juicer and blender more, I have reduced my and my family's salt/sugar/flour and caffeine intake to practically nothing -- that is in comparison to what it was before ;-).  I exercise more. In the winter I slack off because I hate exercising in the cold but come the warmer days of Spring I will be out at my local park walking and bicycling. I also take the stairs rather than the escalator or elevator. Last spring and summer I worked with a trainer and learned a lot of exercises and stretches that I can do at home so I have purchased my own exercise balls and weights in order to incorporated what I've learned into my own exercise regimen. Periodically I take yoga classes and I will be soon taking a new class - belly dancing - which is a lot of fun (I did it 2 years ago). Even before deciding upon this career and starting massage school, I received massage. I just receive a lot more frequently now. I try to get one bi-weekly and when I can't I usually double up the next month. I love trying new modalities so I do exchanges and will also go to another spa or practice to receive (and to research the competition;-)).
Since school, I have had so much more water intake. I found a love for green tea. I do the turbo fire workouts, walk the dog more, and take a full rest day, no excuses. I also change my footwear more, and get regular adjustments from a chiropractor, not to mention more massage;) I found out that, eating breakfast isn't so bad from Isagenix and doing that regimen helped out a ton! I think that's it!
Hi Michelle, wow, sounds like you have made some major changes in your life. I am excited for you! ;) Keep it up and please feel free to share with us the results you are experiencing, or start a discussion you want input about pertaining to your health and massage. Have an amazing week....
I recently have changed all my footwear to Dansko Footwear. Dansko is approved by the Podiatric Association. Plus they are wonderfully comfortable.
I second the Danskos Darcy. I have a pair of those I wear when I do massage and they make a huge difference! Great arch support. I don't have the clog kind because those don't seem suitable for massage work. I have more of the sporty kind with the strap. SO worth the money!
Yes they are Trina.

Over 25 years I have changed many things.

Besides nutrition being a 'huge' part, spiritual awareness is top at the list.

For me it was the most critical and important addition/change to my life.

Breathing is an integral part of my life and practice too!

It's quite inspiring to read all the positive and life enhancing choices that so many of you have made. I can't say that I have done anything new for a long time in this regard, but I can say that I attribute my good health in good part to several life style choices that I have made:

1. Being a vegetarian for 36 years

2. No intake of drugs, nikotine, alcohol, coffee

3. drinking plenty of water every day

4. Eating less

I have not been to a doctor in decades and am practically never sick, not even a cold, so what I am doing must be working.

I have been juicing and eating only fresh fruits, veggies, chicken and fish the last 2 weeks and have lost 14 pounds. I feel so much better and have so much more energy. I am a great water drinker. BREATHING is a new concept to me as I am not a good breather. BREATHING BREATHING BREATHING Gloria. I am also walking a friends dog for the exercise and also reaping the rewards of the friendship.
