Happy Turkey Day to each of you! I'm grateful for your presence in my life.

We did our Thanksgiving feasting last weekend when everyone was in town...so today I'm re-purposing the rest of the smoked turkey that G made and making the expected pumpkin pie, and drinking wine. At some point I will fill my window boxes (all 9 of them) with seasonal greenery & clean the gutters while I'm up there, I suppose.

Good luck, Lisa (awkward, for sure) ~ Just be sure you take some biz cards for them to give to their friends!

Erica, that sour cherry & honey glaze sounds interesting...have you a recipe or do you just taste-test? Do share... :ob

I am headed to my daughter's boyfriend's house for Tday. OIY!!! can anyone say AWKWARD??? :)

let's see...daughter will be entertained by boyfriend. son will be entertained by boyfriend's brother. that leaves me with the parent's undivided attention. i think i may have a glass of wine pre meal. hahaah

Cooking an early dinner for seven and cleaning house like mad. Currently brining a turkey that I raised and helped butcher. Will be smoking it tomorrow before cooking it with a sour cherry and honey glaze. This is my first time ever cooking a turkey, so wish me luck! Other T-day menu items include: glazed carrots, apple cobbler, cherry-chestnut stuffing, lots of wine, fresh bread (brought by a friend), and a Greek pasta salad (also brought by a friend).

This will be our second year of our annual Black Friday Feast--aka, help us get rid of leftovers in new and interesting guises. I think turkey will be transformed into turkey soup, we'll add smoked leg of lamb, possibly some goat, a squash-and-bulgar pilaf, maybe some curried kale, and whatever else we can scrounge up out of the cupboards and freezer. In our house, we don't shop; we cook.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

See, I must be chemically deficient. I am not in to romance. I like to read about it, I like to see it in movies, I like to hear personal stories about it, but when it comes to live and in person.... it makes me very uncomfortable. I just don't get it. My husband, poor guy, is a romantic (don't tell him I told you). Scruffy, construction worker, motorcycle riding, beer guzzling tough guy teddy-bear.

Lisa- does one of those scenarios happen to be the guy is already married? That's what happened with my guy. Luckily, they were on the outs.

the date was alright. just ok.

unfortunately i'm looking for something that i'm just not finding i guess. i want butterflies. and someone that takes my breath away. :) PLUS all those little things that Choice mentioned. :)

and of course when i DO find it, it tends to be with scenarios that make it impossible to obtain.

i'm sure he'll want a date 2. just not sure if i do.

Thanks, Choice, I must have your brother...after so many years (23 for us) is has to be a give & take. I wouldn't want to be dating again for anything! Sounds like you must have a good guy, too, Erica! That date story is the best one I've ever heard and I'm sure glad you're here now to share it.

Lisa, how did it go??? Will there be a second date?

Hey Sam, here's another romantic man...me After being married the first time to a true psychotic ex, I treat my soulmate...we've now been married 10 years....like I never want to lose her, cause I don't. Because she works in retail, sometimes she doesn't get home until after 9pm. Her drink is usually freezing for her (vodka/cranberry). She then soaks in the tub for an hour. She usually gets her feet massaged...I am a massage therapist after all....every nite. I replace the flowers by the tub about every week. We both do laundry and clean....I do more of the cooking....I keep her car washed and gassed. It's not 1-sided either. I get to watch my beloved Texas Longhorns and Utah Jazz. I get to hike and snowshoe. It's like this. We both have scleroderma, a bad cousin of lupus (which I also have) and RA. I handle it better than she does. So I feel like I can do more in order for her to have easier days. After being in hell the first time around, we both know that this life we have now is special. This is the first marriage for both of us where the words respect and understanding and friends and love actually mean something. I think it's the little things that count. If more guys did the little things, maybe there would be less "worst date" stories.

Marissa--the really funny things was that before we went to Ragnar's, he gave me some chocolate-dipped salty things (my tastes run to salt rather than sweet), such as pretzels . . . and potato chips. When I opened them, I looked at him funny and said, "What the hell am I going to do with these?" It took him a couple of minutes (and a reminder) to get it.

But . . . yeah. We hit six years together this fall and are still st00pidly goofy and in love. I adore my ex and we say "I love you" whenever we get off the phone with each other, but this one . . . just really makes my day, yanno?

Holy Crap! That might be one to top all horrific dates!
