You need to customize it to what you want to achieve and avoid. There is one DVD that is 60 minutes of Plyometrics. Worst thing ever! You would avoid that one at all costs. Actually, the instructor (Tony Horton) has a bad knee from a skiing injury back in the day. So, there are times when he's doing things more low key. It may very well be something that you should avoid at the time being. Yoga- definitely! There are certain types of Yoga that actually focus on core, back and hip strength. With these moves you are really working the lower body and improving posture as well. That would probably be ideal for you to start with. Find a Yoga instructor and do an "interview". A lot of places have a first time offer. Take advantage. If you find that Yoga is not your thing, you may want to try Pilates. Similar, but different. Make sense? Give it a whirl. And remember that instructors are like MTs, you may have to shop around before you find your correct "fit". Hell, I'm inspiring myself. :)

Marissa...one thing i was concerned about with the P90X was it's impact on my knees. can you tell me how that went for you? i have a bit of osteoarthritis in both my knees and lumbar spine. just recently diagnosed. my doctor agreed when i suggested i need to start working out again, but she suggested low impact stuff. i'm not sure the P90X would be considered low impact on my joints. what do you think? she suggested yoga.

Any kind of drastic change in health can reduce the chances of getting pregnant. Someone very physically fit who works out 6 days per week (P90X) will actually have a harder time. So I've heard and researched. Don't know. I think I'll just go meet my old nemesis the elliptical tomorrow and hold off on the P90X.

Lisa- Save up for it. You are a bad ass when you do the program. I mean SUPER bad ass. You go from doing maybe 6 push ups (military style) to knocking out at least 18-20. Maybe more depending on how physically fit you are when you start. Me... I was about 220 (height 5'9) and not in very good shape when I started. By the 3rd round, my husband was scared of me. :) Still is too!

Hi Marissa,
Anything you can do to keep your stress level down is what you should be doing while you are trying to get prego.I have had several clients come for regular massage while undergoing invetro.Stress tells your body that it is not a good or safe time to get pregnant.
Breath,Relax and remember, practice ,practice and get regular massage!
All things in good time.-Emma

Maybe if you made trying to get pregnant an exercise??? Swinging from the chandeliers probably burns a lot of calories. Plus, exercise works best when done often.....at least 30 minutes a day 3 or 4 times a week.....so if you're exercising and trying to get pregnant.....................:):)

hi Marissa...i agree with Samantha. how does one put a "look" on nurturing? on healing touch? we are not gym trainers. i think other than the inappropriate look, there really is no look.

as for your other post...

i've heard of the P90X!! i wanted to try it myself but never had the money for it. i wondered if it worked but never talked to anyone who used it. does exercise and losing weight cause you not to get pregnant? if so be the case then maybe you should hold off on exercising and instead just watch what you eat? if you're looking to get pregnant...does it matter what shape you're in? your body is gonna change anyhow. save the P90X to after, when you are wanting to lose baby weight as well. in the meantime i'll hold on to that DVD set for you if you like. :)

hope that helps. if i knew more about how exercise affects your chance of getting pregnant i might be able to give you a little more advice.

I had to do another one, because I know that you guys will actually give me feedback!

I have been having major trouble lately! Due to the fact that we are trying to get pregnant, I haven't been doing anything! And now I'm worried about trying to get back started with my usual exercise routine. I'm a P90X fan. For those of you who don't know what that is, lucky you! :) Just kidding! It is an extreme boot camp style push yourself past all your limits work out. The first time I did the program (90 days) I lost 17 pounds and 10% body fat. It's hell, but it works. So, I know that starting back on that could possibly inhibit my chances of getting pregnant. But, I have gained quite a bit of weight back and it's starting to get to me. Obviously, if I end up pregnant I would have to change exercise programs. Well, that was a lot to throw at you all! If anyone has any advice on this one, I'm all ears... and butt and belly and hips... ;)

I'm transferring this from my Weighty Issues group:

Our buddy Robert Chute here said something in one of his articles about "looking the part of a Massage Therapist". He had his view points on it (which I loved) and I would like to know yours. Do you think that you "look the part"? And what do you think that a massage therapist should look like?
