Welcome to the group Bryan! Yep, we tend to let our freak flags fly here in our little corner of the universe. "Don't want my mammies grammed" made me spew coffee, me thinks you will fit in just fine! :)

Sam, when crap hits, it hits! I feel so bad for you! You have received a lot of great advice here. You need to stay on this and let the roaring *itch that is in us all show. As for work, they have to let you in to get your stuff. Geesh common sense is out the window here. It is not like you are going to show up with brownies and Kool-Aid to distract the other workers. You just want your things and a chance to say hi/bye to your coworkers!

Marilyn, my arms would be spaghetti! But happy you got some table clients out of the gig. :)

Lisa, all I can say is hang in there! The Texas system is tough, been through a similar situation in this state. I hate to say this, but you already know, do not depend on them. Sometimes they come through, sometimes they don't, it is a crap shoot.
As for the Cowboys, girl Tony needs someone to work on that back. Rumor is that he tweaked that old 2008 injury Saturday. He needs someone to keep him going!

Choice, you crack me up, I have days that I think I am ready to run away from anything two legged resembling a human. LOL

Marisa, you are going to go into labor while doing massage. I have this picture, Marissa going into a lunge and oops! Someone call hubby! LOL

Ty, any updates on the fur kids? Everyone doing ok?

::waves at Erica and her crazy goats::

Things here have been busy, unfortunately the massage business not so much. It always drops off before Labor Day, but then picks back up.

I have a new business project that I am researching, not massage related. I need another income source, and if I can do this legally within reasonable cost, it will be right up my alley. If I decide to proceed, I might be asking for some help and input.

Interesting development....I have had someone pop back into my life. Might be a good thing, time will tell. It is the first time in many a year that I have even considered letting someone into the "cave", yea I am a hermit. Of course he is still very much on the threshold,(plus he lives 600 miles away). I still have the option of running back into the cave and rolling the rock to close the entrance! LOL

Sam, quite possibly they're putting a lot of time between the incident and their action thinking you'll forget about it...I understand it's sometimes done...so be on it every day until you get response from their insurance company. Be sure you have all the documentation from your doctor(s) on hand as backup.. Erica is right, at least offer (as in threaten) to give the media your story (does your local station have a "Problem Solver" segment?) for not contacting their insurance rep and/or not being forthcoming with the information! I would think at the very least, the restaurant would give you some sort of retribution. Also, sometimes all it takes is a letter from a lawyer on their letterhead to remind them of their responsibiity, and all the better if they think their business license is at stake. Hey--you could call the BBB & make a complaint, too! As for your job, I have never heard of a place from which an employee is on medical absence, not being allowed on the property! Even if they can't hold your position, not to allow you at least the dignity of a graceful exit and your stuff (are they at least willing to gather it and have it in a lobby for you to pick up?)...Be sure you're dealing with the head of the HR dept. and not some receptionist with color-coded orders. After you're done fighting the good fight, you need a relaxing massage AND a day on a beautiful beach, wrapped in cotton candy and dipped in kittens. (I didn't think of that, but when I read it, I knew I would find somebody who needed that visual some day!)

Is it Monday already? Worked a lot of chair last week, finishing up with a convention Thurs, Fri and Sat. I did 6 hours of chair massage Sat and then followed up with 2 table massages. Needless to say, I was done after that. But it was fun. I had 5 therapists working for me at the convention so big $$$. Yesterday was for not doing a damn thing except to make salsa. Back today for more chair and then a 90 min table (not for me).

Sam, I would definitely say it's "go media" time. Be pathetic if you're put on camera. Don't try to be strong and stand without crutches. Hell, borrow a wheelchair and a tin cup, make a sign telling what happened and sit in front of that restaurant until this thing is resolved. Let the media know you're going to be there. After that, go to your other place and do the same thing until you get your stuff.

Marilyn--17 people in 2.5 hours? WTF, lady? O.O Sounds like a T-Rex day to me! (Those are what I call the days when I've done so much bodywork that I feel like my arms are going to shrivel up like a Tyrannosaurus's.)

Keep fighting the good fight, Sam! With the restaurant being so close-mouthed, perhaps now is the time to bring in the media. I can see it now, a nice local interest story, with a picture of the restaurant all over the TV screen. At the very least, perhaps now is the time to mention that you are thinking about calling the news, especially if they are unable to get you the correct information by a certain point.

As for not being allowed back on the property to get your stuff, that's a bit f***** up. Where were you working, some top secret military base or something? Even then, you should be allowed to get your stuff while being escorted. Who is telling you that you can't?

With everything you're dealing with, it sounds like YOU need a massage!

Sunday afternoons should all be spent like this ~ Up early and it's a gorgeous day (hubby gets home at 6:30a.m. from work.) Hey, goat carts can be a blast! I got dumped out of one when I was little (no worries.) I love the protest idea. Sam, take it from those of us who have been through times when it was more common..one of my good friends was even chained around the Pentagon with Fr. Berrigan years ago in protest to the VietNam war...walking with signage still has punch. Maybe Lisa can help with graphic design for added impact.
Yeah, where IS Donna, anyhow? I thought of Steve T and Choice when I was rockin' the sidewalk chair massage gig at breakfast yesterday! Saw seventeen people in 2.5 hours and made appts for three new table clients. My forearms are starting to look like Popeye's.

It sucks not having internet access as frequently as before! Now I have to always play catch up! My clients are obsessed with making as many appointments as possible before I go in to labor. I keep telling them that they can get on the other therapist's schedule.... Sooner or later! My week ahead is almost completely booked! Craziness.

Bryan- welcome to the madhouse! The more the merrier! Let loose and don't hold back. You can obviously see how PC we all are...

The 17th is coming up quickly! Then again, not quick enough.

Checking in...and adding a big YES to finding Stephen, Hello to Lisa (been thinking of you) ~ also greetings to Erica ('tis been awhile and we may need directions) and welcome to Bryan, glad you're joining us here, where we don't wear filters and try not to offend anybody if at all possible. It's great fun, we seem to have found each other ~ good times & I'm also proud to be in such good company (thanks, Choice.) Had a fairly light Friday (only four 1-hour massages) but putting in three hours' worth of chair in the morning for a client appreciation-birthday celebration-pancake breakfast thingy for the chiro...gotta find my sign-up sheets and disposable face cradle covers and call it a night. Hope y'all have a great weekend. (p.s. Bryan ~ Cultish? Seriously?!) (p.p.s. Lisa, I guess I joined you with my wine this evening...Cheers!)
