Our school gives credit for hours spent in clinic as well as credit for clients worked on. If it is slow, we are allowed to work on board review or homework and still get the hours just not the bodies. I have never had a problem with finding a body to work on though. If we are that slow, we work on each other and the bodies still count. We are scheduled in blocks of 5.5 hours with 3 clients in that block.
Good morning Erin,
yes that's exactly what I'm saying. As far as the intenet access, we have it, but its down in the lobby area of the facility. So where the interns wait until called for massages, they dont have access. They dont even want you to have access to your phone. That doesn't work for me. I'm an emergency responder with my organization. It wouldn't be bad if they were busy all the time. But its not always the case. One of my classmates came for 7 days, 8-10 hours per day, and had 25 intern massages for the week. He getting them done, but the time he spent at the school is pretty excessive.
Johnathan - are you saying that you have to commit to an 8-10 hour block of time to physically be at clinicals, but that if clients dont come in, you're just waiting around (and not earning credit)? That is a bummer. Do you have internet access while you are there? Just wondering if you might be able to login to abmp.com and start on a website or create brochures/newsletters - you can create alot of free marjketing there. If you have the access, it would be one way of making your time more worthwhile!
Gary Addis thanks so much for all the kind words! I am thrilled that you've taken such a close look at your membership tools! I hope you enjoy the CE classes and the magazine - and let me know if you need help with the website builder when you start your website. Next month I will begin offering student webinars as well, and hope to see you there. So glad you joined!
Hi everyone. I am a student, a long way to go before graduation. But I've just taken advantage of the ABMP special membership rate for students. I'm glad I did.
Although I am a long road ahead before I become certified, I just earned my first CEU. ABMP membership confers the opportunity to earn 1 free CEU, in the basics of myofascial release. Also provides even student members their own website. As I don't yet face liability issues, I chose the student membership w/o the insurance option, but for those that need it, ABMP insurance is available also. Finally, and not least, the membership provides a subscription to Massage & Bodywork Magazine.
Everyone should check into it.

Hey everyone,
well, internship has begun and it's going well. I have been doing well. So far all great eval's. I hope everyone is doing well. The problem I see so far is, when you schedule your time for internship, you dont get credit when you get no clients and you spend 6,8,10 hours waiting for clients to come in. That makes for a long day.
