Thanks, Mathew. Judging by practice tests I've taken, the MBLEX is more difficult than the National. More intensive questions about actual treatments
also got confirmation from a classmate that it took him 2 - 3 weeks to get his license in the mail even though the application says 4 - 6, so really half the time they claim. so excited and can't freaking wait!
actually i do remember 1 - 2 questions giving an explanation of a type of treatment and asked if it was shiatsu or ayurvedic and another asking "what is _____?" but other than that most of the questions on my test were asking about client care and the actions of the muscles which muscles to contract if pain in what other muscles. for me, it seemed to focus a lot on anatomy and client care. several questions on business and what not, but almost no brainer to some stuff that requires some thinking. a friend of mine says she got a lot of contraindication questions. hope that helps.
Mathew, my school promised to pay for the national if we first took the MBLEX, so I take the MBLEX on the 13th.
Did yours contain a lot of Eastern questions? and if so, more shiatsu or more ayurvedic, etc? any clues you can provide will be appreciated.
Laura, the school somehow flubbed things. I completed the documented body and hours count for internship half way through last quarter--about 8 weeks now and was just notified I can test.
But quarter before that, the interns received the test about a week after their records were submitted.
After passing, there will be another 4-6 weeks before the license arrives. One week to go for me! On that day, the waiting beforehand won't matter.
But...if I had been scheduled for the test when i should have been b now I would have the license and be building my practice already.
Laura, if you mean the state licensing exam like the Mblex, you should be able to take it even before you finish your hours. I took mine a week before my class graduated. I failed by 5 points sadly enough, but I retook it and passed with a 705 over passing score of 630. The test seems easy enough so long as you know your material, but if you get nervous or anxious, thats what will hold you back which it did me.
In general - But happily at the moment, I have finished all my hours in school, it took me a few extra months to finish my intern hours since my school didn't get a lot of clients due to being new after having to transfer from old school shutting down. I am now in the process of getting my license. Shipped in all the paperwork, but they say it will take 4 - 6 weeks to receive it in the mail. :( I can't wait this long!
Gary - how long did it take to get the OK to test? I'm hearing different things. I'd like to take it as soon as possible, now I'm waiting all the info from our school. Our grades were just posted.
Congratulations, Laura. This is halfway through my last quarter to earn the degree, but I completed the requirements for the testing several weeks ago, should have my license in hand before now. Some glitch somewhere held up the test scheduling of I and my fellow interns: the earliest I could take my test is the 13th of Aug--still another week. Frankly, I would have scored higher on the license exam a year ago (11 months ago I scored 93 on an online practice exam). I'll still pass it, I'm sure. But I've forgotten some things.
Just had my finals on Saturday so I'm all done with school. Woo hoo!! Now to start on the next phasing, waiting for the grades to be posted and apply to take the NCBTM...
