Thanks everyone. I am only offering free massages for a limited time. My reasoning is that until I have my board results and license that is all I can do legally at this time in my state.

Thank you, Lara, for the suggestions.  But it will be many months before I need to attract clients to me an individual.  In the meantime, perhaps the mildly curious visitor will read the lengthy prose and decide to get their first massage. From a professional, perhaps you. 

I promise, by the time I earn certification my website will be more professional.

 

An observation about your site? You might be placing too much emphasis on free.  But then, you might attract people who have never considered getting a massage, and open their eyes to its benefits.

Gary a few things I noticed about your site... If you aren't using the pages for your Blog or Gift Certificates. You can mark those as hidden in the website builder. You can always add them at a later date when you have more content. I remember a long time ago reading that on the average web page, users have time to read at most 28% of the words during an average visit; 20% is more likely. So while I love the descriptive language you use it may be best to keep it more simple for the average person viewing your website. Have you thought about adding a youtube video of yourself on your About The Practitioner page? I think it would be great to use some of that descriptive language in a video with you talking about your practice. I think it's nice for potential clients if you have a photo or video of yourself so they can see who you are and that you are a professional and not a weirdo ;)  I'm working on my testimonials page right now and I'd love to get those up there soon. One last suggestion, review ABMP's Search Engine Optimization tips and do be sure to use the meta tags-those are extremely important so search engines can find and rank your website.

Lara, your site is very professionally done.  It is better than mine, and I've been tweaking it for a week.  I see I'm still not finished. 

Congratulations on your certification. It'll be another year before I sit for the exam.

So I'm very excited the state board meets this week and we should have our results soon! In the meantime, I have found a place to grow my massage practice and I have utilitzed ABMP's free website for now. I welcome comments and feedback as I am very new to creating websites. My website is Aspire Holistic Healing Arts

Thanks Gary - I learned something new today! In that context burbling seems to be a very appropriate word - but when speaking to the masses, it may serve you to keep it simple.  I really appreciate your kind and promotional words regarding all that we offer at ABMP. While I dont intend for this forum to be all about ABMP, I certainly hope that it will help inspire members to engage in all of the tools already available to them as members;  Free website is HUGE - members can also customize free client newsletters/brochures, create an email ending @massagetherapy.com. print out all of thier client intake forms (as well as SOAP notes, body maps and more) and lets not forget the extensive study support we provide online.

 

I am so glad you're taking advantage of your membership Gary, and wish you every success as you transition into a bodyworker (but based on your movement so far, I don't know that you will need luck).
