Bodyworkers of Oregon

So, I guess my main idea for this group was for it to be like a gateway to in-person connection.
Here are some examples:
Maybe I'm visiting my sister in another Oregon town, and I want to get a massage while I'm there. I can come on here to the discussion forum and say, "Hey, anyone in wherever have an opening on whatever day?" That way seems to me like less of a hit-or-miss situation than just looking up someone in the phonebook once you get there, and this way you're already familiar with the one giving you a massage.
Or, maybe I am thinking of trying out a new product in my practice, but I want to experience it first. I can ask the members of this group if they use it, and if anyone in my area does, I can go make an appointment with them so I can feel what it's like as opposed to just hearing people's opinions about it.

But of course, we can use this group for whatever. So, welcome!

Welcome Nancy, Denea, and Karen!

Karen, you might check with Deby at Sage School of Massage for sponsoring the training.

Aloha Group,
I'm looking for someone who'd like to sponsor a LomiLomi Training in Oregon. NCBTMB approved CE Hours. This isn't the typical lomilomi training that has spread across the U.S. This training takes you to the roots and truth of Temple Style Lomilomi, the cause and effect of true healing through Hawaiian values, and empowers you with knowledge and understanding. We explore the new age interpretations, traditional concepts so you can offer the world the best of both! Sponsor takes the training at no cost. Anyone interested?

I am in the Portland/Clackamas area. I do mobil massage in the entire Portland Metro Interstate area. I have been a LMT/LPT for over 10 years. Went to OSM and enjoyed it very much.

Hi Laura, and welcome!

As for schools, when I was looking at schools in Oregon, I looked at both EW and OSM, and I was much more impressed with EW. I didn't end up going there because I didn't want to live in Portland, but I do think it's probably one of the best programs in Oregon. I think Jason Fella went there; he'd be a good one to ask. :)

I ended up coming here to Bend (much more my speed than Portland, I'm not one for cities) and went to Sage School of Massage and I was very happy there. It's very small, and that is its strength. The teachers are great and the curriculum is flexible to accommodate all students. The school has a 100% passing rate for the mblex and is very dedicated to the students' success.

Good luck with your school search and again, welcome!

I just joined the group and am hoping to get some feedback if possible on schools. We're planning to move to Portland or Seattle next spring but I'm really leaning towards Portland because I like the two schools there better than Cortiva. So I was wondering if anyone here has any feedback on either East West School or Oregon School of Massage? Those are the two schools I'm considering at this point. Any other suggestions would be very welcome as well :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
