Working on my online prerequisite course for becoming a Certified Injury Prevention Instructor threw me off my usual activities last week, so this blog is coming a few days late.… Continue
Sure, I'm happy to give you more details. We need 10 therapists to participate in the pilot. You'll take the online course portion of the training (20 CEUs) at HALF PRICE, as you help us define the number of CE hours for the online portion of the certification.
As a Certified Save Your Hands! Instructor, you'll have the necessary knowledge and hands-on skills to teach other massage therapists how to prevent work-related injury, using our workshop curriculum. You'll be able to earn money by presenting our workshops at schools, professional associations, clinics, spas, or set up workshops in your community or region. Schools and spas are already asking us for Certified Instructors, so this will be a sought-after credential.
The Certification starts with an online e-learning course (24 hours) that my co-author, Rick Goggins, and I will teach. After you pass the course, you will attend a 2-day weekend in-person course, where you'll learn how to teach the workshop curriculum and how to coach other massage therapists as they do hands-on work. You'll learn a great deal about injury prevention for yourself as you learn how to teach it to others, plus you'll learn how to work with greater ease, variety of movements and less stress to your own body. The course also includes basic training in the discipline and science of Ergonomics, which as far as I know is unavailable in any other training available for massage therapists, and will be extremely useful in your work.
The online course will be available this spring, and the first in-person training will be this fall. I've put you on a list so you can get more information when we have it. You can also see more under "Continuing Education" at www.saveyourhands.com.
Dear Rachel - thanks so much for "friending" me! I hope you enjoy the Save Your Hands book and CE Course. Let me know if you'd be interested in participating in the pilot program for our Certified Save Your Hands Injury Prevention Instructor course.
