My all time favorite movie is "Dirty Dancing". I have seen it a hundred times. Well maybe 50 times. I just love the scene at the end where Patrick comes walking and in Says, "No One puts Baby in a Corner". I always say to myself, thats right. Go get em. It seems all my life I have fought to come out of the corner because people keep shoving me back in the corner. So because of that reason I love that movie. My second most favorite is Sound of Music.
How did the Sound of Music inspire your positive attitude?
The Sound of Music to me is about simplicity and making something out of nothing. Seeing the glass half full instead of half empty. All Julie Andrews had in that movie was herself and her guitar. Boy did she accomplish much with that in the end.

A new movie, just out called 9000 Needles. It's a documentary of a body builder who had a massive stroke, underwent the traditional medical care and then went to China for Acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatment. Very inspirational. You can see the trailer at 9000needles.com/
Thank you so much for sharing this Michael! I will pass it on!

Being an athlete and outdoor enthusiast, I gotta say "Rudy". Now, for motivation...I like any of the Warren Miller films. He is a producer of skiing and snowboarding films...comes out with a new one each year just before the season. Features some extreme skiing and unbelievable scenery...always gets me pumped up to snowshoe. I'm sure there's others, "Field of Dreams" is on the list, but I'll have to think on it.
My buddy Rocky is in a short film.

As for longer films. The film "Rocky" is my favorite also - who hasn't sang the theme tune from it at some stage?

"Yo Adrian! I did it!!"

Brilliant!
Hi Mike,
I really enjoyed,Forrest Gump. The color purple. Little big man. One flew over the cuckoos nest.
My ultimate favorite movie of all time is 'Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory'.
One of my favourite quotes from the movie is said by Gene Wilder, Mr Wonka himself. "We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of the dreams".
And there is the wonderful innocence that Charlie Bucket provides in his quest for a 'golden ticket'. His hope and believing that he deserved a 'golden ticket' as much as anyone else is truly inspirational.
And then of course, Grandpa Joe, who's been bed ridden for 20 years, suddenly leaps out of bed into song and dance. What a great moment, even if it is unrealistic.
I find remembering or humming the song to be positively uplifting.
"Cos Ive got a golden ticket.... Ive got a golden twinkle in my eye..........and with a golden ticket its a golden day..."
As an after thought, wouldn't it have been nice, if Grandpa Joe was getting massaged in the background and that led to his dance and song? I wish massage was more in the mainstream media formats. Massage TV, even! I remember folks laughing at ESPN and saying it would never make it too! You never know!

Great question and I am pleading with my heart and mind to be true in my response. I loved "While You Were Sleeping", and the predecessor of the Waltons titled "Spencer's Mountain". The finest sport movie was either "The Hoosiers" or "The Express". The Express deals with the true story of Ernie Davis who became a Cleveland Brown, had his number retired, but never played in an NFL game. He died of leukemia so very young. The story took place in the 1960s with racial prejudice in full action in the USA. It dealt with the growth in this young man, his team, and his coach. I felt moved nearly to tears of joy at the close. What an inspiring movie!
I remember the movie. Who knows how many records he would have set? And yet his story becomes an inspiration for you! We never know why, things happen as they do! Thanks, Roger! Have a safe and warm Holiday! Thanks!
