How did the Sound of Music inspire your positive attitude?
A new movie, just out called 9000 Needles. It's a documentary of a body builder who had a massive stroke, underwent the traditional medical care and then went to China for Acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatment. Very inspirational. You can see the trailer at 9000needles.com/
My ultimate favorite movie of all time is 'Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory'.
One of my favourite quotes from the movie is said by Gene Wilder, Mr Wonka himself. "We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of the dreams".
And there is the wonderful innocence that Charlie Bucket provides in his quest for a 'golden ticket'. His hope and believing that he deserved a 'golden ticket' as much as anyone else is truly inspirational.
And then of course, Grandpa Joe, who's been bed ridden for 20 years, suddenly leaps out of bed into song and dance. What a great moment, even if it is unrealistic.
I find remembering or humming the song to be positively uplifting.
"Cos Ive got a golden ticket.... Ive got a golden twinkle in my eye..........and with a golden ticket its a golden day..."
Great question and I am pleading with my heart and mind to be true in my response. I loved "While You Were Sleeping", and the predecessor of the Waltons titled "Spencer's Mountain". The finest sport movie was either "The Hoosiers" or "The Express". The Express deals with the true story of Ernie Davis who became a Cleveland Brown, had his number retired, but never played in an NFL game. He died of leukemia so very young. The story took place in the 1960s with racial prejudice in full action in the USA. It dealt with the growth in this young man, his team, and his coach. I felt moved nearly to tears of joy at the close. What an inspiring movie!
