The Mind Body Connection – Continuing Education Program

At the Mind Body Connection it is our mission is to guide you in your personal and professional growth as a massage professional. We believe in the importance of educational growth and promote life-long learning to protect our profession.

The Mind Body Connection is designated as an Approved Provider of Continuing Education by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork Provider ID 451758-11. All courses offered through The Mind Body Connection meet requirements for re-certification, license renewal in North Carolina, and membership renewal for AMTA and ABMP. Aromatherapy for Massage Therapists – $179

with Hope DeVall | 12 Continuing Education hours

In this class you will learn Aromatherapy; what it is, how it helps, where it comes from, and how to use it in a therapeutic way.  You will become familiar with 10 oils that you will be able to add to your massage session to increase your clients’ experience and results.  You will also learn the chemistry of the oils, dilution ratios and safety precautions.

Chair Massage – $89 with John Morgan | 6 Continuing Education hours

This course is designed to help you transfer your massage table techniques onto the massage chair. Add a blend of Swedish, Trigger point, and Shiatsu moves to make a lasting impression.

Money Making Massage Moves – $179 with Hope DeVall | 12 Continuing Education hours

Learn how to improve your massage techniques and grow your practice.  In this class you will  learn how to identify the most common areas of muscular tension and common pain patterns for both the upper and lower body and incorporate the best techniques from several modalities into your massage including; Acupressure, Reflexology, Dynamic Stretches, and Neuromuscular Technique.  This is also a great opportunity to share your best moves and learn from your classmates.

Stretching on the Table – $179 with Hope DeVall | 12 Continuing Education hours

In this course you will learn the Anatomy, and Kinesiology of stretching.  You will learn and demonstrate static, passive, active, dynamic, and PNF stretches for the upper and lower body, and how to incorporate these into you massage routines. You will also learn how design a stretching program for your clients after session care.

Lymphatic Drainage I – Upper extremity – $ 179 with John Morgan | 12 Continuing Education hours

In this course, based on Dr. Emil Vodder’s method of manual lymph drainage, you will learn the anatomy of the lymphatic system, including lymph nodes, vessels and angions. You will also master the locations of the basic nodes and the drainage patterns the lymph follow. The causes and types of edema are explained as well as the indications and contraindications of lymphatic massage. Lymphatic Drainage I will focus on the upper extremity.

Reiki I  -$159 with Hope DeVall | 12 Continuing Education hours

In this class you learn the basics of Reiki.  You will be able to heal yourself, family and friends thru the use of Reiki hands on techniques learned in this course.  You will receive your first level attunement at the end of the course.

Reiki II – $159 with Hope DeVall | 12 Continuing Education hours

This class is a follow up to Reiki I, and it is a prerequisite for the course. After completing this course you will be able to provide a higher level of healing energy, and be fully certified to practice Reiki with the public. In this class you will learn the Reiki Symbols, how to clear energy, and send healing energy thru distance.  At the end of the class you will received your second attunement.

Reiki Master – $299 with Hope DeVall | 21 Continuing Education hours

This is the final course in the Reiki series.  After completion you will be certified as a Reiki Master, and teaching Reiki will be optional.  This course will provide you with the highest energies.  You will receive and learn two additional symbols, Chakra balancing and how to give attunements to others.

Neuromuscular Therapy I – $269 with John Morgan | 18 Continuing Education hours

In this course you will learn the foundation of Neuromuscular technique for treating soft tissue injuries and postural dysfunction, based on the research of Dr. Janet Travell, Dr. Leon Chaitow, and Dr. Vladimir Janda.  In NMT I you learn how to assess and treat the lower extremity.

Neuromuscular Therapy II – $269 with John Morgan | 18 Continuing Education hours

In this course you will learn the foundation of Neuromuscular technique for treating soft tissue injuries and postural dysfunction, based on the research of Dr. Janet Travell, Dr. Leon Chaitow, and Dr. Vladimir Janda.  In NMT I you learn how to assess and treat the upper extremity.

Neuromuscular Therapy II I- $269 with John Morgan | 18 Continuing Education hours

In this course you will learn the foundation of Neuromuscular technique for treating soft tissue injuries and postural dysfunction, based on the research of Dr. Janet Travell, Dr. Leon Chaitow, and Dr. Vladimir Janda.  In NMT I you learn how to assess and treat the torso.

Neuromuscular Therapy IV – $269 with John Morgan | 18 Continuing Education hours

In this course you will learn the foundation of Neuromuscular technique for treating soft tissue injuries and postural dysfunction, based on the research of Dr. Janet Travell, Dr. Leon Chaitow, and Dr. Vladimir Janda.  In NMT I you learn how to assess and treat the head and neck.

In this course we examine a Buddhist approach to Ethics.  We learn how to pay attention, remain focused and increase our awareness of ourselves and our clients through the practice of mindfulness.   We use the practice of loving kindness to help us treat clients with respect, empathy, and care.

Foundation of Ethics – $39 with Hope DeVall | 3 Continuing Education hours

Adhering to professional ethical behavior is essential to being a successful massage practitioner.  In this 3-hour course we will discuss the foundation of ethics, professionalism, boundaries, the body mind connection, the therapeutic processes, and sexual issues in the treatment room. 

CONTINUING ED AT HOME

The Mind Body Connection is currently offering several online courses for your learning convenience. With home study courses, the convenience and ability to review the material, can actually increase your overall level of learning. When all of this information comes at you during a short time, as in a live class, studies indicate that the retention rate is as low as 50%. With home study, you can review over and over again, which, with enough repetition, can increase your retention rate as high as 100%. That would more than compensate for any real or perceived disadvantage of not having the instructor stand over you as you practice.
