Keeping extra pounds from making an appearance during the holiday season is a challenge that many people face each year. With large family gatherings, company Christmas buffets and goodies a plenty from the oven, it can be hard to keep track of what we eat. There are a few simple steps that everyone can take to keep their portions in check, and thus keep their fat and calorie intake within normal bounds.
Always use a bowl or plate to hold you goodies when snacking. It is easy to lose track of how much you have had to eat if you snack right out ot the serving dishes.
Be especially mindful when eating out. Most restaurant portions are two to three times larger than the size you would make at home. Asking for a doggie bag is perfectly OK!
Remember to stick to a balanced diet. Eat plent of fresh fruits and vegetables, and limt sweets to sensible portions. Follow these suggestions, and your body will thank you in the new year ;)
