We off packages where they buy 4 of them and get 1 free. People love them and they keep purchasing them over and over. You can also offer some type of purchase so many get one or two free. Referred people get 10% off and the person that referred them gets 20% etc.... There are all kinds of things you can do. You can give them half off a service too. It all depends on what you want to do! The packages work great for us though. And you still giving the client something in return too! :) Hope that helps. Be creative and come up with what ever works with your practice.
I have had great results with my program. I offer my clients to schedule with me once a month at a regular time that is convenient to them (i.e.- 4th Friday of the month at 5:00 pm). I will then schedule them out for 6 months. If they make all 6 appointments, the 6th one is free.

This has several benefits. It gets my clients on a regular monthly schedule where they form a "habbit" for massage. It helps me in scheduling allowing me to "block" out times in my schedule 6 months down the road. It also allows me a general idea of how much revenue will be coming in week - week.

If a client can not make a regular scheduled appointment, I require at least a 24 hour notice and a reschedule no more than a week before or after the original appointment. If clients do not meet all requirements (keeping each scheduled appointment) they lose their free massage. No money up front. Clients pay as they go.
We offer a Loyalty Rewards Programme for our Massage for Women practise. Book 3 massages and geth the next massage for free. Introduce a girlfriend and get the next massage 50% off, Introduce 2 girlfriends and get your next massage for free. This Massage for Women option has worked for us before and still now.
I like that concept I am going to try it and see. Right now I can get people to rebook no problem it's just getting them in the door. I had three people that were on my schedule last week need to rebook because of lack of presidental flash cards (money). I don't want to come off rude but I know I need to be firm with these people too. This week I am doing a charity event and I will have my book out if they want to book a massage and was thinking of giving $5 off if they book that day.
My loyalty program is purchase 6 massages and the seventh one is free. They don't have to pay up front. I also allow the free one to be any type of massage I offer. I've found that most will request my spa massage or Bellanina Facelift massage. These are higher priced services that they wouldn't normally spend the money on but when it's free . . . why not? Plus, I've had clients now book the higher price services and refer them to their friends and family. It's a win win.

I also offer $10 off their next massage when someone they refer books an appointment.

I have punch cards.. After every 5 visits and/or referrals they will get 50% off their 6th appointment. 50% may seem like alot to some BUT before starting my own business, I was only making 50% at the salon I was at so it's not bad for me to take that hit every now and then.. It also encourages clients to come more often and to refer new clients. So even if every clients gets 1 referral "punch" on their whole card it's worth it b/c you're gaining a new client who may become a regular.

On the back of my business cards I have "hole punch" but i just stamp it.  The 5th massage is a free 30min and the 10th massage is a free 60min.  I will usally ask them if they want a 60min and discount the 30min.

Are you using any scheduling software?

Demandforce is an amazing add-on that tracks your client spend, does email marketing etc

I do a referral program.  Every referral is $5 off a massage.  I also do massage packages for my repeating clients.  15% off when they purchase 4 massages, 20% for 6.

I also make a point to be aware of special dates and send cards and gift certificates when it's appropriate.
