Daily Max # of Clients

Another post another interest. I'm wondering what other Therapists across the US are doing to save themselves from injury, all whille still making ends meet.

 

What are the Max # of sessions you'd perform in a day?

 

How would you space those out to safely manage that amt on a daily basis?

 

Does where you work have a certain requirement?

 

  I'm hearing while the ME's of the world say that they allow their MT's to pick and choose their schedule that it's not exactly the case at most locals, since I'm thinking of buying into this industry FYI (NOT Massage Envy) I wanting to get a feel across the board for what other Therapist both in the massage box retial environment, as well as privated business onwers have to say.

I work for Massage Envy Pensacola, FL. I do a maximum of 4 massages a day, 2 in a row, have a 30-60 minute break and then do 2 more. I work Tuesday-Friday 10-4, 3-8 PM, and 4-8 PM on Thurs and Fri for a total of 19 hours a week. I work for a great owner who works with us about our schedule. Most of the LMT's where I work do 3/6. This means 3 massages in a row, break, and we get our choice of 30-60 minutes, and then 3 more. I personally average 3 massages in a day. I am one of the lucky ones. I do not have to work. I work for pure enjoyment. I also teach at this facility as well. Massage Envy is about the owners. Not all owners are the same. I am lucky to have a great owner who listens to what we have to say.

No, I am not corporate. I also do have my own private practice out of my home.

Also the other day I asked you about the ME being sold, I waned to make sure u understood I was talking about ME Corporate has been under 3 diff CEO's in 2yrs.

I only know about the most recent sale. I have only been employed by Massage Envy since April 2009. I do know CG Funk the Vice President has been with them for 5 years. Go to my page and you will have your answers.

In 2008 they were sold by the founder to a Tx Vitamin Co, whom just recently in Jan 2010 turned around and sold them to the NY Investment firm that owns Fast food joints, which in my mind doesn't bode well for the brand, as it was always viewed by those inside and out alike as the fast food or Walmart of Massage.

I realize your owner and local may be great but the company as a whole has a terrible rep, thru it's staff, and the customers alike.

IMHO if they were to adjust their model a bit to be more customer oriented vs bottom line it'd be a much better place.

How in the world your w/ a Co less than a yr and get MT of the yr???? :)=

I have been with them since April 2009, 1 1/2 years Most therapists do not stick around long. They get frustrated for whatever reason and leave. I believe in staying where I can water the grass and keep it green. I truly enjoy the job I do and the clients I serve. I do my best.

My limit is 4. I would push it with 5 every now and then. But i space everybody an hour apart

It really depends on the length and type of massages. My day is a mix of half or full hour and chair massage. They are all therapeutic and can be infants to elderly. I usually do 5 hours without a break but try to take 20 minutes after four hours especially if there are more than 6 hours of massage scheduled. I recently had 10 clients in 7.5 hours nonstop. This is my own business working alone and it felt great. Tomorrow I have 5 appointments 1 hour each booked from 11am to 5pm. Sundays I usually have 6-7 appointments and sometimes a walk in. That's my busiest day on my present schedule.

What do others do on their breaks? If I eat I feel bogged down after. I usually do stretches and sip a drink. If the sun is out I do my eye exercises.

I eat a little something on my breaks a piece of fruit or an energy bar. Not a big meal. Drink lots of water. Something like that. Also do stretches all day in between before and after each session.

I think a perfect day is 5 to 6. I work Tuesday thru Saturday , this works great for me, going strong now over years.:)
