Thanks, Laura. That's helpful...I've researched this for trade publications...that rate varies widely from coast to coast and all points in between.
Do you personally have any experience with on-site massage/ several years experience as a massage therapist? That may be a considering factor in their rates offering to you. Given the ecomony if you need the money- it'd be a great way to start building clientele, getting your name out there. I would maybe agree to a short contract if they want you to directly work under them to feel it out and see if there's any growth for you as a therapist, unless they don't have a no compete clause (and there'd be nothing holding you back on doing both once you started doing well with it) and if they didn't object to your clients being yours - you keeping the files (then it'd be a start for you).....otherwise I'd do your own thing with on-site massage and check around to the other hotels setting your price to see if they would work with you as an independent contractor so you could in turn have access to and keep your clientele.
