massage and bodywork professionals
a community of practitioners
Blessing to everyone!
I am new to this forum and quite new to this kind of blogs too!
I am from Southern Spain, and I wonder if any of you could recommend serious and professional webs where I can obtain crystals for my work.
Would love advice on crystals in massage therapy and also love to learn from other professinals about reflexology, energy and haling work as I don't know any other professionals to discuss all this and always feel it is so much more enriching to learn from others that also do this, everyone has something to teach and we all have always so much to learn!
Many thanks and light to all, Deborah

Hi Deborah,
You might want to look into LaStone and their training. The basis is hot and cold stone massage, but subsequent courses also focuses on energy work, crystal work, Native American traditions and so on, and not only physical massages.
They have a crystal course that you can read about at: http://lastoneuk.co.uk/page15.html
It does require Original Body first, which covers both physical and energetic principles about working with stones, including a bit of crystal work. It also covers how to recharge stones and take proper care of them, as well as all the physical aspects like contraindications of geothermal therapy and so on.
Lesley who runs LaStoneUK might also have some leads on where you can buy crystals. I would also recommend that you attend various wellness fairs/salons in your area and see if anything is sold there. Often it's very commercial, but you can find some gems (pun intended) among the vendors and good sources.
Cheers,
Pia
LaStone is hands on - it's hard to teach bodywork online and I would prefer hands on anyway.
Do you know of MassageExchange.com? It's a place to find massage exchange partners. Perhaps there are others close to you that you can exchange massages with. I have also found LinkedIn and their massage groups as a good place to network and find people, even if they might not be local.
I fully understand your feeling of aloneness. I experience the same as I'm the only one in the region who does LaStone Therapy - the rest in France live in the other end of the country. So I don't have anyone local either to exchange with.
Do you have any crystal shops in nearby cities and towns? I would certainly prefer to go that way rather than buy from an unknown supplier. Buy from someone you trust, or from a place where you can feel the stones and see them with your hands.
Do you know what type of crystals you're looking for? Did you buy the Crystal Bible as a reference book (I've been told that is a very well written one)?
When we are ready things will appear in our lives, but we need to be ready to seize the opportunities as they appear and be ready to act.
The best of luck!
Hi Pia, how is everything going for you?
I don't get a chance on a regular basis of connecting to this site so just wondered how it was all going. Where do you work? And do you do crystals yourself or only hot stones? Are you into healing? I practise healing with my crystals and hands on, but love to hear from others that do this and their experiences and advice. Some days I feel stuck because I suddenly feel insecure, other days I feel so sure that I can transmit my therapy in a wholesome way.
How long have you been in this profession?
By the way, I love the LaStone & I am looking into going over to London to do some workshops, thanks for that.
Re the crystals, I am not convinced about buying online, so I am waiting to come accross my amethist wand and other bits I can clearly visualise! Blessings, XD
Hi Deborah.
I work in Paris and have been trained in LaStone since August 2009, having done three courses. Original Body, Deep Stone and Sacred Strokes (which is based on Native American things). I started my massage business in Feb 2008, and began my massage training in Nov 2006.
I mainly work with my stones, though implement a bit of crystals into it. Like a fluorite/selenite wand to do spinal spirals with and using crystals for a bit of chakra placement. I find working with the basalt, marble, jade and sardonyx for hot and cold gives wonderful results as it is.
I know and can teach Healing Hands which is a native American approach to wellness and energy healing. I love the spiritual aspect of it and the roots in ancient traditions and teachings.
There is a story about the Hollow Bone which is very useful to know and think about when you speak about healing. In essence, we're not healing anybody. We are "merely" facilitating the healing of others. We are the tool, the hollow bone, through which Creator works. Anything that happens or do not happen is between our client and Creator. We do not take credit, nor do we take blame. It does help a lot to remind yourself of this, it takes a lot of pressure of your shoulders and helps you remain humble and grateful to be witness to the incredible journeys people take. No matter what type of modality you practice.

Deborah perhaps you would find this site interesting
http://www.crystalinks.com/gemstones.html
Do you feel anything if you hold a stone? Have you ever gone to a place where there are many large stones that were exposed or deposited by the glaciers of the ice age? If you find a place like this try to listen to the ancient ones. I have found that they have a chant they give out when the sun is upon them.
Good luck in your search. I hope you hear them.
Dear Deborah and Pia,
I have been following your such interesting discussions...I would just like to add that I feel that therapists, like ourselves are always healers and in tune with conscious touch which ever modality you choose...It is our energy and we all go through down times but overall it is a gift in my opinion. I try to remember that when I am feeling out of alignment. I would also recommend "RYSE"... This is an energy program ,that the owners of the institute I went to created. It is book and CD series on realigning yourself to the core and to channel the inner most parts of your being...example: your inner child etc...
On another topic...My daughter and I have always wanted to experience Spain and Paris and would love to know from both of you...if we ever get there...what would be attractions to see and what cultural events could we enjoy...I live in Mass and she lives in New york and we could tell you about our homes and would love to hear about yours and learn so when we do go, we know what to do and what to see.
Thank you so much,
Kathleen Fontaine
I am glad you mention the "Hollow Bone". It is an image introduced by Frank Fools Crow, Lakota Sioux Spiritual Leader who died in 1989 at perhaps 99yrs old. He shared the Native American ways with everyone. He described making of himself a hollow bone to become a conduit for the healing energy. When I was in China studying Medical Qi Gong I repeated his description to the Qi Gong Masters. When I finished, one of them said "Yes, that is what I do".
I think it is a wonderful way to describe the use of healing energy and how to prepare to do it.

Hi Daniel,
It is great to hear that you also know the Hollow Bone and the philosophy behind it. I think many traditions see the wisdom of becoming the facilitator instead of taking responsibility over things we essentially have no control over.
The Hollow Bone is an ancient spiritual practice by Native Americans.
I learned the ways from Jenny Ray aka White Bear Medicine Woman, a Santee Dakota Sioux Medicine Woman and Shaman who learned from her father Chas Thompson and other elders, who again learned from their elders going back generations and generations. It is often said that these ceremonies, rituals and skills go back ten-thousand years to indicate it has been more generations than anyone can count or remember.
When Carter signed The American Indian Religious Freedom Act in 1978, the Native Americans were finally allowed to practice their religion, ceremonies and pass on openly their ancient knowledge. Slowly people began to share their knowledge and wisdom with the world.
Cheers,
Pia

Dear Kathleen,
I will like to add that I do not see myself as a Healer. The only thing I can heal is myself. I am responsible for my own wellness and healing, just like everybody else in essence are responsible for their own wellness and healing. I cannot, and should not take that responsibility away from them.
I also hope it is not my energy that goes through to those I touch and support in their healing-journey. The last thing I would want is to them to pick up my flawed self and the non-supportive energies I do carry. I have wounds which still need healing, I have faults which I do not wish for anyone to pick up and receive.
Take for example this morning when I am writing this. I didn't sleep that well and my body is sore. This leaves me with a impatience and a short temperament. Which again leads to me being a bit brusque when I reply to messages on forums/mail. This again leads to the receiver picking up on that non-beneficial energy.
If I can step beyond myself and my own emotions, I can channel pure untainted energy to the receiver.
Creator (by what-ever name you call it) knows what needs to be done or not done. Creator knows what my client needs, why my client has his issues/problems and what it takes to solve it. Who am I, as a mere human who is far from perfect or all-knowing, to think that I can tell what a client needs and then assume I'm good enough and perfect enough to be able to channel that energy from my own flawed self to the client?
I do not take credit for what good my bodywork does, but nor do I take blame when it doesn't work. The healing that takes place is not my responsibility, but the responsibility of my client. All I do is supporting the natural healing processes, I am a facilitator. I am no more a healer than a pencil is an artist.
Once I think myself a Healer, then I will become arrogant and think I know best what the person in front of me needs or doesn't need. How can I ever know that? I am not Creator, nor I am not perfect or all-knowing.
As for seeing Paris and what to see, that fully depends on your interests. History, art, music, wine, food, nature... Can't really recommend things without knowing what type of things you find interesting.
Cheers,
Pia

Hi Pia,
Thanks for the response. I did not sleep good last night either. I see what your saying and I hear you...I just believe we need to believe that we have a gift that we have been given and we need to own up to it and do our best with it....
It is an ongoing uphill climb to always be aliened and able to be a facilitator but bottom line this is our job and if we believe and see then our clients will benefit in my opinion....Negativity is passed through and that is only human but I feel we are born natural healers to be used for the benefit of others as well as ourselves.... We are the most important tool in what we do and need to keep that healthy and strong...We also are are own healers...either way we are healers....
Thanks for reading my opinions and giving me yours. It is so awesome to share with others.
My interests are culture....theater....dance and music...art and food.... Thanks for your thoughts...
Thanks, Kathie

Hi Kathie,
We all have gifts. Every single person in the world has something unique to give and do. That we serve to facilitate and support healing is no more special than an artist making beautiful paintings, or a carpenter creating a useful table.
I strongly believe that it is very important that we remember to remain humble and not think we are anything special compared to other people who walks different paths in life.
We all have the potential to facilitate healing, but for some it is simply not their calling, or their path in this life. Their lessons might lie elsewhere. Or it might be that they facilitate healing in subtle ways which could simply be that they smile at the stressed desk-clerk when they need it the most.
Always should we aim to Walk our Heart Song and do what is true to us. To be grateful for every single day we live and grateful for the ability to serve and make a difference in the world. But never should this become a burden which weighs us down. After all, we are meant to be happy and live in happiness, and if we are not happy and feel a burden from doing what we do, then we are doing it either wrongly, or shouldn't be doing it at all.
I will never label myself Healer. For in my opinion I am no more a Healer than a Pencil is an Artist. The pencil might be the one drawing the lines on the paper and apparently creating the drawing. But it is not the pencil who controls or decides what is happening.
Cheers,
Pia
