I am getting ready to take my test for the state of Maryland, are there any good websites that I could go to to study?

Also, are there any benefits to taking one test over another?

Hi Quincy,

I know what you are feeling, right now. I could hardly breathe. I kept asking myself, how else can I prepare? If you studied and did well in school, you will be fine.

There will probably be questions that were not covered in school. There will NOT be enough of them to fail you, if you have studied. Don't panic. Breathe.

That said, I typed in "massage license practice exams" at google and got 380,000 places to go. GO over your Chapter reviews and words in bold print. If your teachers allowed you to keep your tests, review them. And have confidence in yourself. You will do fine. Still reaching for knowledge is a great thing, never stop reaching!
Hi Quincy,

When I was studying for the Exam with the NCBTMB I used several study guides. The one I found most adventageous is:

Complete Review Guide For State and National Examinations in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Barron 5th Edition.

I discovered that many of the questions in this review guide were on the national exam word for word at that time in 2008.
I like the MBLEx for licensing and to NCE as a certification to take about your third anniversary in the profession.
P.S.

Also ck out massageprep.com -- it cost, but they refund your fees if you don't pass.

Also, my book has a 400 question bank that is web-based (these are licensing questions), but you gotta buy the book (Mosby's Pathology for Massage Therapists) to get access to the site. Sorry.
Thanks for the advice Mike. I feel like I have studied but I know there is lot of information that I want to know better. I guess will come over time and experience.
Thanks Susan, I think I might have to try that book out.
Thanks for the advice Darcy

Hi Quincy,
I think I know how you feel. Even though I graduated and have been practicing successfully for five years now, I never got around to taking "the national" and even now, I'm terrified I won't pass it...so I'm grateful that you posted your question, it benefits me at this time, too! Massage legislation forms are still pending here in MI so it hasn't been such an issue, and things are changing quickly so I would like to be able to practice in other states, since I travel a lot...it would be so nice if there was an exam with reciprocity.
Quincy,

I used this website and I passed the test recently.

Check out Laura Allen's book Plain & Simple Guide to Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork Examinations. She is a member on this site and is a great resource!
There is an online practice test for the NCETMB ~ The practice test is 65 question long ~ it will give you an idea of where you need help. The website is www.NCBTMB.com ~ The cost is $20 for 3 attempts in a 3 month period. The only downside I found that it's the same test with each attempt. I was hoping to see a different set of questions on my second round to really test my knowledge.

The NCBTMB is rolling out a practice test website, but you can only practice three times for 20 bucks.

IF Maryland is allowing the MBLEx, that is the exam that both AMTA and ABMP endorse as the path to initial licensure. Contrary to the propaganda put out there by the NCB, it is NOT an easier exam; it is a different exam. It contains twice as many ethics questions as the NCB exams, which I think is a good thing.

Good luck with your test!
