I've been a massage therapist for almost 8 years. Several years ago I decided I want to teach women about self breast massage. I became a certified lymphedema therapist to help understand the lymphatic system. I have yet to take a breast massage class, but I'm anxious to onc work  that much so I feel I still need more training. I joined this forum to connect with others who are doing the work. It seems like the activity of this forum had dropped. I hope to open more discussion as I move forward in this area. This is my blog. I post every blue moon, but I expect to do better in the future.  http://www.holisticbreasthealth.blogspot.com  Also, this is my facebook page.https://www.facebook.com/pages/Holistic-Breast-Health-and-other-sel...

Hi Sherri, I offer Lymphatic Drainage of the breasts in my practice and listed it as massage so potential clients could find it on web searches.  Women find it incredibly helpful for a whole list of things including prevention!  http://www.fortcollinslymph-massage.com/breast-massage.html

Breast/Thoracic work is so important for women's health. Men get chest work usually with massage but don't have as much health issues of the chest.

I find lymphatic massage and MFR among the best techniques to address cysts, fibroids, cancer prevention/recovery. Even being a male Therapist I get asked for this. When health is the question gender of the Therapist is not as important as knowledge and skill.

Good luck in the work.

I know it is taught in pregnancy massage. That is where I learned it. I also learned that some states don't allow it unless you are a medical professional such as a nurse. I am still trying to figure out the laws and regulations for breast massage before I start offering it. I have 2 more years to go before I get my R.N. degree and then I don't need to worry about it.

Carol, that's a great website. Thanks for leading me to it. I also have Susan Weeds book, (and Debra Curties and Cheryl Chapman). In fact my breast massage oil is loosely based on the herbs she suggests.

I appreciate everyone's input. I think once I take a breast massage course I'll feel more confident. I'd love to take Eeris's class.
