About 5 minutes before my first client this morning I caught the back of my index finger on a corner of a display case and gouged a deep little cut.

I've tried liquid bandaid in the past, doesn't stay on.

I've never tried to use a regular band aid or a cloth one during a massage, and i HATE wearing gloves. Digging around in the first aid kit I found a box of Band-Aid brand Water Block Plus.

They work!!!  I confirmed that my client still wanted to have the massage today with my finger bandaged.  Started gently to test it, stayed perfectly in place through a full 90 minute massage.  The outside of the band aid is this weird flexible semisoft plastic with drag similar to skin- glides just fine with Biotone cream.  Absolute life saver.  Every therapist should have these in their first aid kit.

Thank you for the great tip. I have very rarely needed to use a bandaid, but it happens, and this sounds like the perfect solution.

Thanks, sounds like something that would be good to keep around. I try to be very careful with my tools, but accidents happen.

Thanks Cassandra!  I love hearing these little tips.  I don't like wearing gloves either.  I have discovered that the small clear waterproof bandages work pretty well.   They stay on during the massage.  I do change it between clients just to make sure that there isn't a problem.  I have also used Nexcare Skin crack repair to cover small cuts.  Especially those little ones around the nail if you clip your nails just a little too short.  It doesn't burn like liquid bandaid does.   (most of the time I use both the bandaid and skin repair just in case I do have a situation during the massage where the bandage doesn't stay on)

I mentioned clipping my finger nails and it made me look down at mine as I was typing.  I sure do miss having pretty nails!  LOL
