What things are you currently doing to promote your massage business? How often do you do things to promote your business? Do you have a website that gets you regular clients?

And more importantly - do you have the number of clients that you need/want to make a living? How about enough to go to Hawaii every year?!

Just trying to get some discussions going here!

What do you need help with in promoting yourself?

Currently to promote my massage business I send out emails to existing clients and a few informational email loops, update my website regularly as well as use Facebook and Twitter to connect with people. I've found my Facebook Fan Page to be effective at promoting classes and local events where I'll be doing chair massage and selling products I make. Website doesn't generate many new regular clients, but seems to be a great way for people to check me out when a friend has recommended me to them; the majority of my clients are a result of word of mouth from existing clients and professional referrals.

At present I have enough clients to just scrape by and live month to month...not fun, and very stressful. The economy has affected my business this year. Ideally I would like to see 15 clients a week in the chiropractor's office I work in AND 10 clients (or more) per week in my home office. That would help me easily pay bills, taxes and have enough to save for fun vacations too.

I need help in putting myself out there and finding other ways of generating new clients, as well as; networking and making contacts to put my products (Susan's Serenity Sprays) out in the marketplace.

Thanks for jumping in!

Your website isn't getting any clients because it isn't optimized for the search engines. You do somehow have the ability to add keywords and descriptions to your pages. I have it outlined on how to do that on my website at www.thebodyworker.com You need to have a website that gets found for your keywords - massage, your city. That is highly targeted marketing. People are already looking for massage so it is easier to get them to call. There is tons more you can do for your website if you are interested in knowing more.

How do you use Facebook? How do you find new clients there?

I have both a personal page for myself and a free fan page for my business. Anyone can become a "fan" of my business, it started off with friends and clients. I can post and invite people to events, classes, etc. People can comment on and respond to those posts as well as bodywork centered posts. When people comment on things it shows up on all of their friends news feed when they log into facebook.

Then I get people checking me out because their friend has communicated with me. Great way to get people talking in a relaxed way, and people who might never have actively sought out or considered experiencing bodywork may get a point of view they would never have otherwise. I've gotten clients that way, people not realizing that bodywork could help their TMJ or their child's ADHD symptoms. Extremely effective!

So you didn't worry about client confidentiality by sharing having all of your friends and clients connected? That's the thing I hate the most.

Julie
I never mention specific clients. Typically I'll mention a class or how I love how effective a technique is, and one of them will comment about my "generic" comment with details of their own, the sharing is all on them and it's their choice. As for having my clients and friends connected, it doesn't bother me; I don't post super personal stuff on my personal page anyway, to me it's just not a good idea on such a public forum.
