I'm heading "home" to MA for the AMTA 50th Anniv. bash (the theme is research!) and will be co-teaching with Ruth Werner. It will be my first time teaching a massage-related class-Yikes! I'm excited and terrified at the same time ;) Luckily, Ruth is an amazing presenter so I'll have some good guidance. I'll be in Seattle not 2 weeks later and am doing a case study presentation with a classmate of mine (We're each presenting 1 study that we did this year)- that will be my first research presentation. Again, excited, but nervous ;) And I'll be at the AMTA National convention, conveniently only an hours drive away while I'm out here in WI. I can breath a sigh of relief and just relax at that one- no formal involvement other than being there and having a blast learning and seeing good friends. :)

I was referring to your above statement Kim. Did research submissions for the Seattle Conference incude case studies?
ohh, sorry! I misunderstood :) Yes, case studies were submitted. The Foundation will be doing a special break-out session, just for case studies on one of the days. I believe 6 submissions were chosen for this, but I'm not 100% positive on the exact number.

Good catch Kim! I had heard 60 and then I heard 30 poster presentations. Looking forward to your take on the conference.

Mike,
There will be poster presentations (I just checked the list- looks like there will be about 30) and then an oral panel presentation. And I'm copying and pasting here from the schedule, just to make sure I'm not screwing it up. This will be Thursday afternoon- there will be several concurrent sessions, this is just one of them.
"Breakout Session: Massage Therapy: A Survey of Recent Case Reports
Moderator: Christopher Moyer, PhD
Presenters:
Kim Goral & Meghan Burkett
Massage-induced Postural Change as a Mechanism of Effect for Reduction of Anxiety: Related Procedures and Findings From Two case Studies
Alison Bowcock
Effects of Regular Massage Therapy During Treatment for Breast Cancer
Erika Larson
Massage Therapy Effects in a Long-term Prosthetic User with Fibular Hemimelia
Jenny Dailey
Bulimia Nervosa and Massage: A Case Report Examining Body Awareness with Co-Morbidities Anxiety and Depression
Voula Soursos
Treatments for Chronic Pain in Persons with Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI)"
Early bird rate has been extended to 4/15 and they are now offering 1 and 2 day packages if you can't sign up for the whole thing! Everyone who can attend should, it's going to be quite the event! And Mike I think I remember you mentioning before that you will be there- am I remembering correctly??
