Price Plans for those signed off from work, eg Fibro, back pain ect ? How can they access treatment ?

I was thinking of offering flexible payment for those financially crippled and off work.

4 post dated cheques paid in quarterly for 4 get you back to work sessions of massage therapy up front.

There are plenty people caught in this trap, could this work ?

Are you already involved with helping this group back to work ....how do you do it ?

The problem I would see is, if when the post dated checks come due...and they're still out of work...what happens?
I personally wouldn't do it that way, Stephen. If something happened and they couldn't get the money to the bank in time, then people who are already in financial distress could be faced with bank fees for overdrafts, and you would be without the money as well.

We do offer package deals for people who can pay up front. My staff members also have the discretion to give someone a discount if they feel that they really need the work and can't afford it.

I have also sent out some coupons to people I know who have lost their jobs. They were only for $5 off but a lot of people have used them.
Checks are not good indefinitely. The banks have expiration policies. 6 months used to be common before the recession. Now some banks are down to 90 days. Check on this before agreeing to hold checks for a long time.

As Laura points out you could also create further financial distress for the client.
I agree with you Henry, I know that we need to make a living too, but sometimes I feel like you, there is people out there that need it and can't afford it, I feel in my opinion that a lot of people here are always saying that we should all value ourselves and our services, and if we discount we aren't valuing ourselves, but for example I know a woman, she is a reflexologist (a friend of mine) who recently lost her daughter, a mutual friend of both send an email to other therapist and me asking if any of us could give her and her other daughters a massage, going to her house of course, and that they really didn't have the money to pay, everybody else said that only if the come to their office, but that they really needed to pay, I instead brought my table to them and complimented them with 40 minute massages for FREE, she obviously needed some healing at that time, is this wrong?, maybe for some of you, but not for me. Money isn't everything in life, if you do this from your heart it will be ok SOMETIMES to help other people in need. I have two small kids, I have my own office, and hubby works, I've been licensed for 1 year and a few months, and I have to be very honest, I sometimes do not have the money to go pay me a massage. what I make is enough to pay our bills and cover our needs. Maybe for me is like this because I just started with my business and trying to build a clientele, but I hope in the future when I make good money, that I don't turn out this way. And please note that I'm not saying that you should help everybody in need, but what ever happened to the good Samaritan?. I bet most of the therapist that talk like this is because they are making a 6 figure income, have a big rent to pay or they've been in the business for a looonnggg time.

wow im suprised... but maybe im the only one who isnt in the business for money.
i do know when to offer discounts and i also know when someone isnt able to pay 50-60 dollars an hour because they have lost their job.
i have given free work in these cases , but like i said, i know these folk and their job situation and they wouldnt pull a fast one on me or take advantage of something free.
i have also recieved gifts in the form of food or a service in return for my work. doesnt sound like much but to them its a blessing.
