I use firm pressure the length of the tendons. also pressure angled distally just proximal of the insetion. It has been effective.

My dad had this bad!! i used a form gua-sha technique, most familiarized by Graston but without usage of metal, i use a plastic-resin tool by gua-sha orthopedic. he was fine after 5 treatments in 3 weeks, using the exact method daniel suggested! i was not hurtful to him, rather a welcomed mild discomfort in process. trigger finger, much like other conditions is not tought enough in schools, so congrats on getting info for yourself!
