The ABMP School Issues Forum is a setting where owners, directors, and members of the massage and bodywork profession can educate, inspire, network, and talk shop with peers about issues they determine.

We would like to take this opportunity to hear from the educational community about their challenges and successes that could be possible topics of discussion in Austin. Participants drive sessions by leading panels, serving as panelists, and offering ideas and comments from the floor. The end result is all about building a more successful school—and more successful graduates.

The 2012 ABMP School Issues Forum will be held in Austin, TX at The Driskill Hotel April 19-21.

This spring it’s easier than ever to be inspired! For the first time, ABMP is offering schools the budget-friendly option of paying a minimum down payment now to secure their spot at the School Issues Forum in April.

Registration Fees:
ABMP School Members = $425
Non-School Members = $485

Pay your full balance now or take advantage of this Early Deposit Option and register by December 31, 2010 with a minimum deposit of $150. The remaining balance will automatically be billed on April 1, 2011.

Comment by Chip Hines on November 4, 2010 at 10:55am: Im not sure if the word got out, but we prepared a "checklist" from the MTBOK so that schools, CE providers and even practitioners could look through the entry level knowledge, skills and abilities the MTBOK lists as competencies for an entry level practitioners. The checklist is available here: http://www.mtbok.org/downloads/Checklist_of_KSAs_for_schools_v1.pdf

It is our opinion that this tool is an easy way for a curriculum committee to identify any areas that their curriculum doesnt cover or could cover more adequately. In my opinion, most schools address most of the competencies already.
The document isnt really innovative... essentially it just takes all the KSAs and puts them in a form with a column for the user to indicate if they address the issue. SInce the tool is for you to use, isnt required by any one, and isnt turned in to anyone, it can be a good internal working tool to see how closely you already align with the MTBOK and to look for items you may want to include in your curriculum development process.
CE providers could use it to check the universe of KSAs to determine potential for new courses, and practitioners could use it as they develop their approach to determining their continuing education courses.
We hope the tool is helpful.

I have been to every forum and keep coming back because there is always great conversation, participation with presentations/discussions, and it's unlike any other event for school issues. I learn something every year - looking forward to 2011 Forum.
